Snowing here now not laying but nice to see all the same

Hopefully your turn at the weekend seabreeze. I am a Redcar lad myself living in guisborouhh now, it's always tough to get the snow to lay on Redcar, certainly need a good easterly feed.

Are we expecting it to get heavier or is this it?

Nice one! Today is a bonus really but would like to see some sort of covering as it’s been so poor here this winter but as you say the fun and games start this weekend!!

This has been a winter to forget. Cant believe how bad its been.

Spring now please.

Patience our time will come weekend onwards. No more marginal stuff snow all the way . The GFS is wrong but even if it wasn’t we still get pummelled. The MOD thread is very southern biased don’t forget that

Yeah you know if it’s a proper cold spell if Redcar has lying snow for longer that a hour . Very optimistic about the weekend onwards

This has probably been the best winter here in terms of times it has snowed and days of snow on the ground and icy frosts for 4 or 5 years. And we are not half way through winter yet and it's snowing now - what are you expecting to happen in a British winter?

I do think if this it will go wrong it will for us here. It been a season to forget. Im sure hartburn is radioactive.

Saying that its starting to snow now and put a little layer down. While the rest of region is in piles of the stuff.

Bring on having to travel west to get the sun due to sea fret lol.

Not sure where your location is but it’s been a winter to forget on Teesside not everyone lives on top of a hill.

I've known plenty of winters where it actually snowed, this has been a really strange year for us around Teesside these fine margins have been crazy, Never mind its only weather worse things happening in life.

Teeside has just been plain unlucky this year on several occasions

Hexham not really on a hill. I think anywhere in Northumberland away from the coast has had a more snowy/icy winter than average recent years this year. Shows how different the weather can be over a short distance.

It has been very strange for Teesside, I have seen differences within 200 yards of each other and that is without any difference in heights.

It seems we have always had the pockets of warmer air mixing in and this has resulted in rain / sleet while everywhere else has seen snow on many occasions.

Hopefully the joy of the North sea will eventually come good for us all from this weekend.

We have a good layer of snow here  now and still coming down steadily.  Is the warmer air going to win?

It will today but will quickly be replaced by much colder air come the weekend

I am a lunchtime supervisor at a primary school and I would rather stand outside in the snow than the rain so I'm hopeful it wont change until after 1!

I agree with those airing their frustrations about this winter.

I live 3 miles from the coast and have barely seen any snow on the ground yet Ive only had to travel a further 2 miles inland to see plenty of snow on the ground on a more than a few occasions.Higher than average SSTs to blame I think.

I'm hopeful that the lower 850s temps forecast for Saturday onwards will help deliver to all of us up here.

Mean ECM accumulations by Sunday.

Hate Easterlies.

I mean i don't think anyone would moan with that... How realistic is it though,
