I've been out with my camera this afternoon, left rainy Middlesbrough at 12, a few mile up the road in Bishop and Spennymoor, total whiteout, looked lovely and got some cracking photos, fingers crossed for teesside in the coming weeks

What are these rumours of snow later on. Definitely a few bits of heavier precipitation around but will it be enough to give some snow?

Light sleet. System beginning to Peter out. Good riddance to it. Hopefully Saturday will deliver more for lower levels

Saturday will be a non starter for us as well unless you like more rain.

As I said before it would seem that unless we get a NE or E flow we ain't getting none of the white stuff

Really frustrating watching the local news and seeing 80% of the region with white out conditions and we get miserable cold rain.

I am still hopeful though that we will eventually get that NE/E flow very soon.

Well I must venture out to the local shop. Battle my way through the snowfall. Sorry low level snow starved pheasants.

Very brief spell of snow for some Saturday, mainly hilly areas.

A few less cold days heading into the new week, then the fun starts again

Well it hasnt been much fun the last day or so, very frustrating for a few of us on here but at least we have had promise this year, unlike previous winters.

And at least I was fortunate to have had one good snow event last weekend.

I am still confident that the promise will turn into some real snowfall for us in the next few weeks when the SSW really kicks in, bring on the NE/E flow and the North Sea snow machine!!!

Is that still happening? Can’t keep track of the MAD thread when is this SSW supposed to be happening?

Oh the lunatic asylum in there.

Not sure to be honest, did read on another site about wind reversal and the jet stream way south which could open the easterly flow so I am pinning my hopes on that.

Also MetO outlook makes mention of NE/E winds so again I am hopeful.

Oh the mod thread. I thought it was the southern thread. They're crying as they've not seen snow and 'us northerners' have. Loads of us up here haven't seen snow either. ??‍♂️

The MOD thread is great when it’s showing good weather for the south. Anything north of the m4 there not to bothered. It’s always hard to tell but who am I to judge there a lot more experienced weather people than I.

Like you say the Meto office still going for north east winds next week. Just hope it’s going to be cold enough.

can’t go through winter with what we are getting so far... I know some have done very well so this is a personal view. If that’s the case being on some sunny weather and the end of covid ??.

Very cold out there this morning. Currently -4. I'd imagine the places with snow cover will have gotten alot colder

It was -7 here when I left for work at 5:45 so probably got to around -8 around 7am. Roads were very tricky I’d say 4x4 only until you reach a main road then ok.

Dubai Floods: Another Warning Sign for Desert Regions?

The flooding in the Middle East desert city of Dubai earlier in the week followed record-breaking rainfall.
