Snow started about 11 in Newcastle, still snowing but coming down slowly, about 1/2 inch on ground

A good covering but seems like it's turned back to rain. Quite disappointed to be honest

it looks like it could be turning to rain in Whickham now too, but we have a couple of inches on the ground currently.

Dew point currently 0. Temp 0. 850hpa -2 and will start dropping in the next hour or 2. Chances it could turn back to snow through the morning as the colder air cuts back in? Dew points don't look like they will rise looking at the recent arpege but who knows. Consett i would have imagined have done well and will see more snow through the morning

I'm afraid I was right - really disappointing considering what some models had been showing in recent days. Hours of snow, but light and small accumulations. Southern Pennines/Sheffield area looks to have got the heavy stuff. :::sigh:::

Speaking to people at work it seems that as little as 20-30 metres height difference has meant snow or rain in places. Hexham is snowy until you get closer to the river.

Slushy covering here but seems to be raining now, a bit disappointing. Hoping it turns back to snow as the cold air digs in but not holding my breath

Slushy snow out at the moment here (Spital Tongues). Sleet is turning increasingly snowy again though

Latest radar picks up the areas seeing snow nicely...

Definitely better further south. Could be they get the event we all looked set for a few days ago.

Decent covering here in Gateshead but very wet. Still we have had more snow so far this winter than the last two combined!

Yeah this is just south of us and it looks like they have more snow. Expected more than this !

I was on Nightshift at Egger in Hexham and there was nothing by the river all the way to stocksfield. Then up the hill in Prudhoe there was 2 inches.
