Just watched BBC 1 weather, looked to me that if you drew a line from about Alnwick down to Durham, nearly everything to the East of that will just be rain, with the snowiest area looking like Cumbria and N York's. Also, Saturday's Yellow Warning event looks like s "blink and you'll miss it" sleety washout. Ho hum!

Snow here in Durham, but will it not pep up? Looks like the heavier stuff will be to the South now.

if you describe white fluffy looking things slowly falling to the ground as snow, then hey the sleet has turned to snow here now

It definitely looks like it’s snowing car windscreens are turning white and precipitation is turning more meaningful hopefully I wake up to a covering!

its same here but i think its more a build up of ice than snow!!

Just looking at the webcams, the contrast of 3 miles between the QE Hospital and Gateshead Town centre is huge. Of course the QE hospital is pretty high up but it's amazing how one area can have a decent covering and the other is just wet.

Sadly I fear for those lower down, any snow will turn back to rain as winds are forecast to go on shore so perhaps make the most of any snow you see falling.

Looks less wintry compared to your video, I suspect sadly when you wake up it will be wet rather than white.

The rare occasion the NE gets frontal snow, winds are forecast to come on shore. Sods law.

Just went out for a walk. Lovely snow.. but it's not exactly pelting down. Maybe an inch by morning if this keeps up? I think N Yorks is the best place tonight though.

Winds currently SSE veering slightly SE. Not properly onshore so might not be too bad. Hope the intensity picks up a bit
