Showers are of snow here but not heavy as they lose intensity as they come off the Pennines, current temperature 0.8c

We need uppers of at least -9c for the snow shadow effect from the Pennines to fade

Hail and sleet in darlington looks like the sky is darkening right now could have another wet sleet shower on the way.

Nope it's just cold pure rain.

The cold rain showers seem to be intensifying now. Coming in quick succession. This is beginning to get exciting.

Usual here today as well, lots of showers, mix of rain, hail, sleet and now and again a wet snow shower, pretty rubbish really, 100m asl

I am thinking we may get a little surprise overnight though, maybe a covering, and then a little something extra at the end of the week.

Raining again here.. very depressing. Looks like a bit of potential on Thursday evening.

Having drove around a lot the past two days for work, most of the lying snow is above around 250m with patchy snow a little lower down.

Shame really, giving the potential.

Cumbria might do ok from the frontal feature, but it does look like being one of those that is dying as it hits N England. A couple of cms might be the best we can hope for - it is coming in the mid afternoon, so would be nice to see it falling in the light and hopefully should stick to give a lasting cover through Friday given temps overnight will be low. Always happier when I know the snow won't quickly thaw once fallen.

It will be rain anyway so wouldn’t get hopes up lol. This has somewhat been a rubbish cold... not even going to call it “spell” we had one good day and the snow lasted 5 hours lol.

Totally agree, been very much a letdown on something that was looking so promising.

Lets see what the end of the month brings, probably more cold rain!!

Well we had a covering of sorts this morning, a sheet of ice with hail pellets on the top, guess just be thankful it was a white covering to wake up to.

Durham is having a good time through this cold spell, send some to Teesside folks!!!

I guess that’s it for the nest couple of weeks. The SSW results are still up in the air so to speak and will they favour us? Chio reckons it’s a 50/50 chance, he is the expert so I leave it in his capable hands but hope the dice fall our way this time.

Let's all keep our fingers crossed for it to go our way.

As I type, at long last, the showers are now falling as snow, decent heavy shower too which may well give a slight covering.
