Metoffice text forecast sounds good for many in the East and North of the region, particularly higher up. May only be transient, but could provide several hours of snow and accumulate at quite a rate before it turns back to rain:

This Evening and Tonight:

Dry and cloudy for most of the evening and night. During the early hours, rain will spread across the region from the southwest, likely turning to snow away from coasts and bringing several centimetres of snow on the hills. Minimum temperature 0 °C.

Tuesday:

Further rain and snow likely. Snow will turn back to rain later at lower levels and over the southern Pennines as it turns milder. Expect travel disruption on higher routes. Maximum temperature 9 °C.

A more sensible text forecast than the nonsense from this morning. Still quite bullish about snow tonight. I expect ice pellets and freezing rain away from coast but only very short lived snow except in the northEast of the region.
@Dexter snap. Was just about to pquote it but you beat me to it.

Imagine the front stalled over us instead, that would be hilarious after the last few days.

Is that in your back yard or mine?

Saturday night brings bitterly cold easterlies with snow showers piling in for the east of the region.

I know they don’t mean much but the met office app now show heavy snow for me between 2am and 6am.  It has always been rain or sleet up to this point.

His. You would get snow, and potentially more than just a few flakes.

I think we need to keep an eye on this low, it's causing all sorts of headaches.

Midnight on Wed. Wouldn't be surprised if the cold comes in quicker than Friday/Weekend, a lot of moisture spinning about that low.

My flakes fall twice as I have a trampoline in the back garden so they bounce up again before settling.
