What is it with the Midlands and snow? Think they've had more over the last 5 years than I have in 25.

Met Office update still going for possible snow in the south of the region Saturday, so that's encouraging and still shows the uncertainty.

That is now the northern extent on the GFS, really bad start to the 12's.

I see met flopped with Scotland warnings... slushy inch at best or rain... their snow warning to rain warning... not inspired by the current output atm...

Exactly the same, maybe a touch further south!

It's actually depressing.

Enough to worry about with the COVID situation without the weather Gods sticking the middle finger up too.

And then no doubt the much promised easterly will either not have enough umph to cross the mighty Pennines or have more of a NE element and drop south of the Peak District and plaster, yes you guessed it, the Midlands

Could end up with the South Midlands being the Northern extent at this rate. Things only trending one way now.

On the bright side, some Midlands people probably gonna get fined for having snowball fights during lockdown.

While we are continuing being sensible here.

Think I'm done with this winter now. Something will likely come along and spoil the NEly, then we're into mid Feb.

Charts posted in the mad thread show Sundays system much further north to the extent that we end up with rain and the snow reserved for the North Pennines and southern Scotland.

dare I say that we need a southerly correction

This is how the pattern usually goes year on year.

Day 5 - Modeled to hit Scotland

Day 4 - Scottish borders

Day 3 - Cracker! Looks good for the North West - ALL SUCKED IN!!!

Day 2 - The South of the region may see snow - 50% OF US STILL SUCKED IN!!! THE OTHER 50% OUT BUYING A NEW LAPTOP!!!

Day 1 - Possible light snow in Cheshire/Merseyside - 20% OF US STILL LEFT, AT THE LOCAL CHURCH PRAYING!!!

Day 0 - Wales & the Midlands 5 - 15cm's of snow QUITE WIDELY - F### OFF!!!

Current Output

Day 5 - Looks good, has potential...

Perhaps there will be a frigid cold week in February that will deliver the goods nationwide...or as good as.  Something has to come right after the sleepy Polar Vortex and no raging Atlantic.

Could be worse, you could be this time last year about to face the wettest February on record by a landslide and a dead polar NWly

The flooding in the Middle East desert city of Dubai earlier in the week followed record-breaking rainfall.
