Sliders never deliver here. Going to be another horrible weekend of it reaching down the road then turning back down south haha. Oh well, maybe it'll correct north but I don't think I've ever seen that happen.

I'd at least like it to be a good 100 miles or so further South if it's going to miss. Nothing worse than it coming within about 5-10 miles.

Lol! Doubt that is feasible, but there could be further significant Southerly corrections yet. It's normally the direction things trend due to models underestimating the block. Would be nice for a Northward trend for a change, though this only seems to happen when it's rain.

Pi-ssed off

On a Saturday too. I’d love to sit with kids watching it hammer down.

I won’t be able to help myself reading the Midland thread however.

It’ll be sunny dry and cold for us so time to get the grass sledge out providing of course you have a nice hill within walking distance of home.

then when your back home you can put the news on and watch some reporter frantically looking for enough snow to make a snowball in an area under a Meto amber warning.

Seems to be a common case when there is less oomph to the Atlantic fronts stall and dont push through our region held back by strong heights to the north, conversely when Atlantic is stronger have no problem steam rolling through with the mild air also to boot.

Many yesteryear heavy snowfalls have happened to the SW when colder air has had the upper hand to the north.

JFF FI 06GFS would give Daytime maximum temperatures of -4c now if that verified which is not out of the reach of possibilities I would sacrifice Saturday temporary covering and wish the Midlands good luck with there transient snow event have a feeling February going to be a very eventful month

Northern edge of a weather warning can only mean no snow

Agree however METO are so uncertain on the northern edge so could go either way however history tells us these sliders Always correct south.

Can’t see it correcting North 50 miles at this range.
Always goes South.

I’ve just had a warning telling me to remain in isolation until after 30th which means hopefully I can go for a walk in the snow on Sunday

All I need now is some snow but it’s looking unlikely this far north.

Let’s not throw the towel in yet; let’s wait for the 12Z’s at least. I have a better feeling about this than last week.

GFS about 16:00, WRF at 17:15, ECM around 18:00. The others will be around same time as well.

In fairness Chris, I wouldn’t be throwing the towel in if I lived in your part of the region or around Cheshire, southwards.

I think you’ve a good chance of seeing something this weekend but for much of Greater Manchester along with Lancashire and Cumbria it’s looking more and more like another frustratingly missed opportunity.

maybe better luck next week although it’s alway jam tomorrow.

It's the hope that saps your spirit, it won't get anywhere near here so I will have nothing invested in it.  If i was in the south of the region, it would be a different story...but is there another band coming on Tues\wed that's forecasted a bit further north?  That might be more noteworthy

In all seriousness I agree, this system has more oomph, so hopefully it would only take an extra 20 mile shove to have Merseyside in the game.

I still think Cheshire/ Merseyside & the Wirral and even as far north as South Manchester are in the game still for now. Although even if we get the snow it’ll be a side swipe of anything  Midlands and Wales are getting once again. 2-5cm potentially whilst the Midlands cops 6-15cm of white stuff. Locally 10-20cm possible over high ground according to the Met Office.
