Hello Guys & Girls, First of all I just want to say a huge thank you to all of you for all the messages of support and the PM's you sent me, you are an ok bunch aren't you! So, thank you.

Hi Guys & Girls,  A short message from me while I still have the energy, my Mrs & I are both in our early 40's with asthma, we have made every effort to protect ourselves from from this e

Shades of Feb 1996' for the NW with the current output - elevation, uppers and frontal / streamer alignment appear in the favour of many eastern areas (e.g. E Cumbria pummelled), but sizeable amounts

Decent event 2-3 inches snow still coming down after all the rain... crazy weather... snow showers/streamers next couple of days then maybe more frontal features over weekend... interesting times... hope all with flooding stay safe

remember that 5cm of snow is another 5mm of water to the river system!

Thinking some parts of the NW have probably had the most number of snowfall events since winter 12-13, and we are only at the 20th Jan and a good 2 months still to go, statistically as well 20 Jan - 20 Mar far more likely to bring snowfall than 20 Nov- 20 Jan despite the longer days and strengthening sun.

True. So far i've had 4 good snowfalls and a white christmas, and this weather event is by far the most significant.

Very decent event here in S Cheshire with still some light- moderate snow falling. 6-7cm so slightly more than the 29th Dec event all be it much wetter snow.

Much much more here than Dec. Precip intensity helped. Much more on a par with you there.

After a few mind numbingly boring years for weather, the past 12 months have spoiled us.

The dry, warm spring followed by those amazing electrical storms over the summer, followed by a wonderful snowfall tonight. Proper weather.

Whilst rain & flooding has been the major concern today and snow melt tomorrow will exacerbate this I think questions need to be asked as to why there wasn’t at least a Met Office Yellow warning ⚠️ for snow this evening as whilst we are the NW 5-10cm of snow is a lot of snow for low lying NW England and the one line today in a Amber rain warning gave the impression to Joe public of a 1-4cm high ground only event. If we were London and the SE we would have got an Amber Warning the works.

A pic of the Crewe- Sandbach bypass haven’t seen it so bad since the 18th Jan 2013 (that was a good event for us south of Manchester) and the infamous 17th/18th Dec 2010 event. Think gritters may have been caught out slightly 😬⚠️❄️
