BBC NWT weather man seemed to show an amber rain extension westwards.  Now area includes areas east of a line Preston - Lancaster, so that's Bowland    Not surprising really.

Nowhere in the region sums up westerly facing upslopes more than the Bowland Fells although the high tops around Winter Hill would run it a good second.

Unless there is some major turnaround in the models, I think the next few days will see some unwanted records broken and weather to tell the grandkids about.

Would like to know BBC definition of hill snow. It's a term used all the time. It could mean 100m or 600m.. it's a meaningless term and should be binned.

Looking at the outlook, high chance of snow down to low levels Wednesday night over Lake District. Probably safe bet places 200m, but could get down to 100m or below as coming in the night. Last Thursday the snowline was about 180m.

File with the governments COVID obsession of saying everything will be “in the next few weeks”

that ones winds me up nearly as much as the obsession the government’s COVID crew have with putting “absolutely” into ever sentence, whether it adds anything to what they are saying or not.

Will keep the Stocks Reservoir and others well topped up.  So even if we have a summer drought       we'll have summat to sup.

If possible send it too me, hopefully we havent lost a valuable poster on these forums.

I think the issue with the snow after this low clears is winds will be on shore quite a bit with air not all that cold but I accept it's one of those set ups where there could be surprises especially if things do go slack.

That’s a serious amount of water heading down towards Manchester.

its interesting that the advanced flood warnings are starting to appear on the EA website.

nothing at the moment for the Irwell upper and lower catchments but the Upper Calder catchment already has a warning in place and I fully expect the rivers draining westwards from the Pennines to join the eastern ones in the next few hours.

As others have already posted, a genuine look of dread from the bloke reading the BBC weather forecast and he didn’t hold back when mentioning severe flooding.

i wouldn’t back against waking up tomorrow to a red warning.

That was a good event for this region, even close to the coast had a covering from what I remember.

Yes even here think there was about 10cm.

A very wet streamer at the moment.

Wife has jab on Wednesday in AUL at 20.45. Could it be that i drive her down and it snows in biblical proportions and we are marooned in no mans (womans) land.

That plane that you might have heard was an Antonov An12.

Not many of them around.
