Freezing cold. Already defrosted the car and it’s frozen again. Says it’s 0 degrees

Stunning morning walk on the Werneth  Low. My crazy springer spaniel was skidding all over the place on ice

Still -0.1°C here so remaining colder than forecast and we also have a rime of ice on everything from the freezing fog.

Went up there last week and was on the lookout for your springer and cockerpoo.

Dropped to -7.4ºC here overnight; it's still -2ºC currently

Obviously no settled snow from yesterday; but with such a sodden ground it's frozen hard underfoot and the hard surfaces are lethal with black ice

I love it up there, especially on mornings like today! If you do spot us, be sure to say hello

Still 0.2°C here and we should be around the maximum now. Maximum was forecast by WRF to be just over 4°C so wildly over estimated. It may mean there is more chance of ice pellets later.

The potential NW'ly does not look cold enough for much wintriness apart from high ground and even then it probably has to be pretty high up.

Unless uppers are at least - 8 or below then it won't be that interesting on a snow POV.

I agree that -8C is a good threshold for Irish Sea snow , however it looked marginal over Christmas and we had a good covering here on three separate occasions.

I’ll be looking for colder uppers getting into the mix, and a slacker more westerly flow, it could yet come good.

Areas on the coast will need colder uppers, ideally approaching -10C.

Not got above -1.7C here today with the freezing fog. I love days like this, feels proper wintery. Won't last though as winds pick up later ahead of the band of rain/snow.

Might have been a bit warmer here as per steam video but you seem to have cast your fog blanket over my house too.

Not the best pics taken from the phone-camera but there's a low temperature inversion this side of the Peak District today that I wasn't expecting to see, the temperature in Buxton has also dropped back down to -2.5'c now that it's set in with a high of 0.5'c (just missed out on it being a ice day there.)

Agreed...not often you see tree's in that glorified presentation in this country...certainly not the previous mild winters we've had.  Whilst IMBY I haven't had much in the way of snowfall the frost, ice and fog has made a welcome come back this winter so far.

Tonight could be a 'blink-and-you'll-miss-it affair' if you're awake into the early hours... because with a forecast max of 8-9c tomorrow afternoon...any snow won't stick around for long.

Promising signs for later next week.

The flooding in the Middle East desert city of Dubai earlier in the week followed record-breaking rainfall.
