I'm going to have to look on enviously tomorrow as my old stamping grounds in the amber zone looks likely to get a right old pasting. Good luck to all in those areas.

@Day 10 I'm still around just been busy at work a bit.

Somewhat surprised by the amber warning in the far East of the region. I guess even as far west as Manchester may see temporary snow cover.?

I'm struggling to think of a comparison for this situation in terms of the warning. The amber looks like it's following higher elevation but I mean Bolton isn't exactly in the Alps. For it be just rain here and disruptive snow 15 miles away is boggling my mind hah. What an interesting little island we are.

Not a chance unless they can give it a 100 mile southerly correction.

As regards the Amber. It’s a test for the MET ability when on here majority say no chance. Going to be an interesting morning. And an interesting drive out to Whalley.

Good to hear it’s only work mate, with all that’s going on we were getting a bit concerned.

Not been online much the past few days but what a bloody turn around.  There will come a point when it will be 'nailed on'...I'm guessing that point will be from when the low and it's behaviour becomes more cemented.  I might have to have another 24 hours away until then! haha.

I am way too south for any of the good stuff tomorrow but I wish my fellow NWers some of the falling stuff. Especially Cumbria, where I know have had next to nothing.

I’ve seen it be rain in Manchester, got to farnworth and it’s been sleet. By the time I’ve got to horwich it’s been heavy snow. Manchester is about 90m asl. I’m   190m asl. Surprising what a bit of altitude can do.

You're right - it is surprising as you say what that altitude can do - it's just with our numbers being so small Madrid got pasted a few weeks back but it's like 800m asl... we go from rain to snow up a slight incline haha. At least winter hill will look good anyway I have a good view of it from near mine

A bit of altitude makes a massive difference when it comes to snow.

Sleet lower down the Rossendale Valley will usually have turned to settling snow in Bacup centre.

half a mile and another 150 ft higher at home it will often be twice the depth and another mile and another 250 ft at the county boundary is another world.

The weather front is now bumping into colder air now according to radar. It is showing some greens over S.Wales high ground.
