I really can’t see how any of the region away from the highest ground will be getting snow tonight/tomorrow? An hour or two of temps around 2-3C followed by a quick warm up of temps around 7-10C? Why are we looking forward to this? Cold rain followed by milder rain?

Yes at 300m, but earlier it was all rain

Reference weekend putting aside the possibility of snow which is to far out to forecast is it still looking good for cold?so hard to follow the mad thread with all the south bias.

Who looking forward to it?

My attention is weekend onwards although saying that the 06GFS has blown a bit of a fuse new trend or wobble this evening should make fascinating viewing.

I'd certainly be interested if it were in the daytime, but a brief snow to rain event in the early hours of the morning is certainly not anything I'm going to stay up for. That's assuming it even snows here at all.

Hopefully no one, because the Met just removed the warning. Lol.

Eastern and Northern parts of the region still covered by the warning, as expected. Could be 5-10cm over 150m so could be decent for some. Southern/South Western parts of the region out of the warning now.

Just in warning.

Models been suggesting West Lancs too marginal for 2/3 days now.

Not getting up at 3am for 1 hr of snow then rain.

Be interesting to see how Bacup does.

Has it?

Changed it again. I clicked it when they updated at 11:30 and no where south of the lakes were in the warning.

Touch and go whether we are a decent event overnight and through tomorrow morning, or yet again a temporary cm cover. The front looks to have some intensity about it, expecting some heavy precipitation and this will aid evaporative cooling.

Forecast also suggesting front may not move through quite as quickly hence may not be until the afternoon before the milder air begins to move in, and will be a more gradual process.

As ever a nowcast event. I'd be happy with a couple of inches. Hoping though for something nearer 4 inches and for only a slow transition in the afternoon from snow  to rain. S Scotland best place tomorrow I feel.

Longer term lots if interest end of the week, cold and possibly more snow.

06Z WRF is even worse for Merseyside; just rain now and not even any ice pellets. Freezing level at 1500 m from the moment the precip arrives untill near the end of the run on Thursday. So annoying though because places in the north of the region still get 6 hours snow followed by 6 hours ice pellets or freezing rain. How can there be so much difference in 20–30 miles!
