Still looking OK for Tues, a period of moderate to heavy snow looking likely for all before maybe turning back to rain in the south of the region.

Need a correction south a tad to keep it as snow, but looking a better prospect than last week. I'll post some charts later.

Not bothered on today, it was always looking a bit meh.

It may have only been a bit of a rogue shower ahead of the main front but it’s good to see snow blowing about in the wind when I opened the curtains this morning.

stopped again now and it’s highly unlikely that the main band will get anywhere near this part of the region but another day where snow fell.

Well just woke up, heavy sleet. Where did this come from. Too marginal at the moment. Sods law that when it was not looking marginal before it wasn’t predicted to make it and now it’s too marginal when something does make it.

Typical isn't it.

You have moved to just outside the triangle of doom so may get some wet snow

WRF goes out to midnight Monday night now and shows a period of heavy snow just starting right at the end. Looks really good. Let’s see how long it shows the cold air stain for later on when it goes out further.

Problem is there’s not much chance of evaporative cooling at the moment because it’s too windy so not sure it will turn. DP is close to 0 though.

So frustrating.

Sleet.

Buxton getting battered  - watched the front move in early hours and how it slowed to a stall over Snowdonia - impressive block .Noticing a few wintery pinks pushing E from Yorks.

Think the issue for anyone north of Merseyside will be the rain shadow affect but not only that, with colder air comes lower dew temps so drier air so will take the moisture out of it anyways.

I would not be surprised too see reports of snow falling in Merseyside soon though. Not sure any will accumulate mind.

Yeah it's made it to my location, sleety rain. I was hoping for a dry day to be honest the weather can be such a tease.

Nothing here but grey skies and a biting wind.

Certainly a strong gusty wind blowing.

Not sure why but an easterly always sounds different here and this one has been howling throughout most of the night.

Same here, I suspect its down to being on the 'lee' of high ground so enhancing the gusts pretty much.

I think it’s because we are so exposed. It always feels like the French Mistral. No gusts just a constant blow which howls through every gap. I hate going outside in this weather!!

BBC forecasts not willing to talk about anything beyond Monday at the moment so for most of the region, it’s a case of looking at the models, listening to the unbiased members on Netweather and drawing your own conclusions.

At least the mood in the Mad thread is a bit better this morning although maybe some of the usual suspects are still frantically looking for a single chart that shows whiteout conditions at the bottom of their road.

Snowing here, but in bursts then peters off. Its more flurries than troublesome snow.

Yeah we do feel the full force of anything from the east.

the wind seems to run up the Calder Valley and bounce over the ridge and down into this end of the Rossendale Valley and summer or winter, it’s been strong enough to blow out fence panels in our garden.

As Geordiesnow said, probably a “lee” effect.
