Came down a bit heavier about 10 mins ago. Probably a couple of cm out there now. Doesn't look like there's much to follow this band and they are weakening..... unless those ones to the west of Cumbria can make their way down and stay intact.

The remnant of one shower has just managed to reach here but as it’s -4°C every flake is sticking.

Wow. Couldn’t be bothered staying up but that shower hit perfect. Just looked out of the window and a new 3cm has been put down.

Good overnight covering. Must’ve been some active band that maybe 3am?

Had some graupel type stuff this morning. However the temperature is rising far more than I thought it would. Temperature is now 2C with dewpoint above 0C so melting fast.

Down the road it's almost 4C .. just shows what a westerly wind can do to a cold night

-0.1°C here, 2.1°C in Crosby...
and that perfectly illustrates why I moved inland lol

By the looks of the posts on here. The Oldham east area is doing poor compared to all the other areas dotted around here. Usually the other way round

The snow we've had melts quick. Kind of reminds me of past winters as a child in the 80's when snow fell often but quickly melted, on /off through winter until we finally got pummelled with up to 8ft drifting later in the winter.

Just to add, we only have a slight dusting of Graupel here this morning.

Dubai Floods: Another Warning Sign for Desert Regions?

The flooding in the Middle East desert city of Dubai earlier in the week followed record-breaking rainfall. It doesn't rain very often here like other desert areas, but like the deadly floods in Libya last year showed, these rain events are likely becoming more extreme due to global warming.
