You missed the heavy snow showers during the night?

Must of yeah, but got up at 7 to thunder & lightening and a mix of heavy/hail snow, white outside.

Winds veering more northwest now, showers forming by IOM heading this way I think.

Morning all, from a South Eastern interloper.

Hope I find yourselves and your Families, well.

Looking for a bit of local knowledge and advice.

I "host" a Horse Racing Competition on the Lounge Forum, and although Haydock Park has passed an early Morning Inspection, I can see from the Radar that there's some pretty beefy Wintry Showers, in the area.

The going is already "Heavy" at Haydock and I'm sure they wouldn't want too much further Ppn, after the recent deluge you've suffered.

Is there any Member that lives local to Haydock and what are the current conditions like?

Much appreciated.

Regards,

Tom.

Hi @TomSE12 I live 10 minutes away from the course. Currently very light snow has left a 'dusting' radar looks like more indound but ppn has been very light over the past couple of days since storm Christoph thankfully. Edit: Snow has intensified now.

Snowing heavily here now!!  Hope it's snow in Sandbach/Crewe etc? Going by how 'dry' the snow looks I am hoping so.

Amazing! Looking at the radar I’m hoping to catch the northern extent of the big clump, as well as the finger. You geeks will know what I mean.

Fingers crossed for you Joe...as we know, we all love a good finger!

I reckon there could be a good hour of this looking at the radar? Easily 2-3cm already and settled on everything so temps must be below 0c

It’s a very big batch of precipitation feeding up the Mersey estuary so yes I think you’ll be getting this for a while. Lots of pics please.

It’s 0C at Manchester Airport which is a good benchmark for other parts of the region / Staffs , you’ll be at freezing or below.

A real surprise for here.

Iced up then substantial hail shower to graupel then a white out  - everything covered in 10 minutes.

I'm near Whalley for work no snow but foggy - odd coming from sea level to altitude - very localised but an interesting drive in.

We should be, as long as it’s snow

It’s a fairly wide area of precipitation , we’d struggle to miss it entirely.

Radar has pinks over the IOM on a NW flow  - looking favourable.
