Traitor - moving away from out Mersey mush

it was literally a case of if your wind is off the sea then unlucky. It basically took the whole northern and northwestern part of Wirral out of the game.

May end up getting more than the 29th Dec event here locally all be it much wetter snow. How is it in Stoke? ❄️⛄️  Heavy pulses moving northwards up the Welsh border Staffs and Shropshire now.

Already have more than just after xmas. Only been snowing an hour

I know!! Potential is there. My trusty BBC App didn't expect the rain to turn to snow till 10/11pm...so early bonus. The radar looks off the scale!! Hopefully clear through fast so won't melt much over night.

Up here its mental, like most places.  Will try and get some pics from my window! haah.

If you consider the radar, certainly where i am, this could go on for at least 3-4 hours.

Heavy snow here for last 30 mins settling everywhere but the road. It'll cover everything shortly though due to the intensity. Temp dropped to 0.5c now from 5.5c at 6pm.

Radar is a mess too it's hard to tell what direction everything is going. We've got between 1-2 cm now which itself is amazing considering (and again thanks to the near magic of dew points) it's settled on surface water.

I am baffled right now. 3c temp, 2c 850hpa temp, Dew point at 2c and yet it is snowing with it accumulating in Manchester. Looks like 2cm has already accumulated in 20 minutes, even though in the morning it was 12c?? Does anyone know how this is possible.

Yes, this I do not get. Didn't the met office post an Amber warning for 10 to 20mm of snow in the east Midlands and East Anglia last weekend? Perhaps they now we'll just deal with it.

Power of evaporative cooling at play right now, places with very heavy precipitation are seeing lapse rates drop significantly, hence the snow. Here we just have moderate sleet, hoping for something heavier to enable snow, but in these situations it can suddenly switch.
