The strangest amber rain warning ever - I wonder if we will get a new warning - although I guess there current one covers it. On a  serious note I really feel for those families having to be evacuated around Didsbury and Northenden - if it all turns to snow at least it may delay some water getting into the river courses as God knows there doesn't need to be any more.

Crewe Station getting an unusually good covering. Pelting it down with 50p size flakes here - 2cm lying and the heaviest probably yet to come after 10pm.

I'm absolutely incredulous.. quite fascinated at the local differences here. I've seen it before many times to be fair. It's all about the wind direction really. South Wirral and Cheshire has a long wind draw off land.. we don't in northwest and north Wirral.. thats why it's raining and sleeting now, as opposed to snowing.

About 3 cm now on bins. Still coming down little bit smaller flakes only golf balls with the occasional hand thrown in, 0.1°C.

The snow was mentioned in the rain warning, but perhaps warranted a separate warning for clarity.

Almost on time at 9:10pm the rain has transitioned from rain to snow here this side of the Peaks.

Yes I think the change to snow has probably saved me from flooding it’s still pretty close.

No snow here in L31. Anyone more knowledgable than I know if it will turn for us?

Only really applies if there's no rapid thaw, last you want is inches of snowmelt in those rivers.

Why wasn't any of this forecast? worthy of a yellow from the met office this.

If it goes on as long as netweather forecast was suggestion for my area, should have been red. Speaking of which, does anyone know what time the front should fully clear, considering staying up?

Mum and Dad just phone giddy AF hahaha.  Chuffed it's so good there too.

May end up getting more than the 29th Dec event here locally all be it much wetter snow. How is it in Stoke? ❄️⛄️  Heavy pulses moving northwards up the Welsh border Staffs and Shropshire now.

If its snowing in Halewood there must be a chance, cant be much lower elevation than Halewood and can't be far away.

EDIT : Just looked though and Halewood is slightly further away from the coast than i thought, went there on work once, its a little bit further away from the Centre of Liverpool than i thought.
