cheshire snow

Recommended Posts

I'm in Kirkham, between Preston and Blackpool.  After a bit of snow overnight, we've had snow constantly now since about midday.  Really strange for us, as we rarely get anything being so close to the coast.  On a slightly different topic - which Forum would I best posting in for advice on the best weather station to buy?

Cheers

Just home. Really quite heavy snow between the Carnforth area and Lancaster. M6 outside lane unusable in places.  Still snow down  to Forton area ..... then it just stops and everything  is green again.

Home its light drizzle and all the patches of snow from last weekend have finally given up. What a difference in 20 miles !!

Does bring into question how cold tomorrow morning is going to be now?

It does even looking at the radar this front is still building from the east.

Pretty much constant light snow all day. Melted the covering we had this morning.

Well the GFS now has the PPN leaving the Blackpool coast just after midnight, looking at the radar, I would probably back that up. I do feel getting much in the way of moderate to heavier bursts will be few and far between so I very much doubt there be much evidence of lying snow around despite temperatures dropping.

We've not had any snow today, but I can't complain we've had it on the ground for 12 days now, although it is now mostly ice.I have lived here for 31 years and I cannot ever remember see it lying for so long. When I lived in Birmingham 61-89 it regularly hung around for weeks..

WRF never wanted it to be very cold tonight around here only -2 or so, let’s see how close it is.

Finally some dandruff, hoping might squeeze something heavier, it has been a painfully slow moving front, made worse when just a few miles away is getting lots.

The current prediction looks better than it did earlier of the Radar image.thumb.png.bb0cf81f33d388cfbf1d3e054ba98f6c.png

What app is that?

I'd give this cold spell a 6 out of 10 as it's been pretty persistent. Snow wise 3 as the most we've had was a couple of inches on the 28th/29 December. Plus a few dustings in-between that but nothing really notable snow wise.

As someone who lives very close by & greatly enjoyed the dogs walking me on the Daisy Nook-Medlock Vale-Park Bridge corridor...I agree with your above summurisation.
