Radar today has been very misleading either that or the precipitation supposedly falling from the sky has fizzled before reaching the ground. In the last hour or so we should have had some sleet and snow, about an hours worth, but there has been nothing. The same thing happened this morning, waited about 2 hours before any precipitation yet radar was showing 2 hours of snow should have fallen.

There are a number of occasions when it doesn't pick up precipitation as well.

Not to be trusted!

ECMWF is pretty on point with the radar prediction so far according to windy, hope it continues the way its forecast...

Thinking this is going to be nothing more than cold drizzle. I'm expecting to wake up to puddles.

Well, the rain here has been replaced by what appears to be a light snow shower. Hopefully a good with of things to come this coming morning.

Temps too high on that. Could be downplaying the potential for tomorrow...

Yes agree a proper mid winter January day, not had many of these in recent years. Had that bleak mid winter feel to it. Indeed mini-flashbacks to the first week in January 2010 feeling, but nowhere near as cold or as snowy as then.

Temperatures rose to about 1.5 degrees so no ice day, but very cold by any standards, I class any day with max of 2 degrees or less as very cold, benchmark used to be 0 degrees, but in these warming times, 2 degrees or less is preety good going.

Yes a great winters day, best since 2018 although that's not saying much! Minimum last night -4.2c max today +0.3c, light snow started before dawn and continued till dusk, only amounted to 4cms but in the freezing air it stuck to everything creating a Christmas  Card scene. This was Plumpton Church just north of Penrith. Hope you right about tonight's snow. Andy

Uppers are forecast to be slightly colder by morning but when you look at the other threads, it is a tad underwhelming.

Going to be interesting how the PPN develops and how much there will be but I think it's going to be tough for those under 100M. A degree does not seem much but it feels miles away in terms of getting snow.
