You are in a prime position for that shower.

Hoping it reaches here!  Still dry but probably not for long.

The Scot are under a different system with a mild sector in it. It might get squeezed out as it moves south.

Look quiet heavy up there?

Still absolutely zilch here mate, rain/hail since Monday. Glad I listened to my head lastnight to stop the hopecasting.

I think we can officially confirm the coast is the worst place from any direction in a line running from Lancaster to the Wirral to about 20 miles inland.

Perfect case in point, look at the DP's near the coast.

Having said all that, it is looking increasing likely it is going to get colder as we head into Jan so the areas above should finally get in on the fun.

Wouldn't surprise me to see something like this by mid Jan.

Good pics again guys, enjoy!

Somebody is going to get pasted in the next hour or so by those showers north of Blackpool. Getting quite developed now. Hoping they head a bit further east. Unfortunately they seem to die off once over the M6.

The direction of the flow means that anything hitting land south of Morecambe Bay misses the East of Lancashire and Manchester and the cluster coming in that far north are breaking up when they hit the Bowland Fells so it looks like a day of missing out this far inland.

Possibly a better chance when that lot arrives from the north later although marginality may be an issue then but it better than a train of mild south westerly depressions.

We have snow on the ground in Preston for the first time in 2 years. Only a slight dusting but its definitely  snow and not a hard frost

Can you narrow your area down?  - Cheers

Snowing here, but only light to moderate in intensity after an initial brief heavy fall. Seems we are sufficiently far enough from the coast to prevent any significant modification of the air. It's very still outside which is probably helping.
