Both Liverpool and Manchester Airport tafs indicating snow showers tomorrow 2am-6am which I think is a reasonable assumption for tonight 9am is when DP rise slightly and showers turn more to sleet/rain west of the M6.

Well from the vast flat Fenlandish expanse of the barren Fylde Tundra all I can say is.

Not a.

So called Tier restrictions may well scupper a few regular New Year outings to Cumbria - the Bowland Fells really do look exceptional so a change of plan is in order. Good to see all the good reports.

Looks like a streamer is setting up that will land around the Blackpool area. This tends to favour around Manchester - it'll be interesting to see how marginal it is further east in the region when it makes it to see the state of play.

6z looks less keen on tonight into tomorrow’s sleet/ snow risk looks more of a coastal feature but shows another area of sleet/ snow potentially moving down later during tomorrow. We’ll see - Met Office local text forecast looks promising still.

Yes - radar has sleet echo - interesting to see when hits land and gains a bit of Alt -  heads up Manchester?

Cold day, current temp just above freezing and not expected to rise much above 1 degree.

Prospects for snow overnight and tomorrow uncertain, another nowcast. Amounts likely to be fairly small as the front won't have much intensity about it.

Would be nice to have a couple of cms at least.

Showers of ice pellets and rain here. Really disappointing.

I think it’ll be rain tonight too. I think generally if you saw snow last night, you’ll see it again tonight. Without elevation you’re screwed for tonight, expect wetness.

Really heavy shower coming my way according to the radar. It’s showing as sleet, but I know it’ll be a heavy hail shower. Bring that on, love hail!

The temp risen through the night after a low of -4.8C because fog developed, wasn't awake to see it but it's still out there now, current temp 0.7C. As for tonight definitely another nowcast situation in regards to potential snow.

I’m just not feeling optimistic at the moment. It’s all looking a bit pear shaped unless you live on a hill. It started so well as well.

My girlfriend just went to work on the Wirral and told me that there has definitely been some snow in town possibly 1 centimetre although now melting and reported ice pellets on the Wirral.

I live in N.E. Wales, close to the border at 200m ASL- so I hope you don't mind that I frequent this regional chat. I'm with you guys... a cold N'ly or NW'ly is my favourite, but can pull in higher DP's etc.

We've had a few snow showers this morning which have settled but are gently thawing with the temp at 1.2 degrees.

Today and overnight I'm mildly optimistic that I'll see more snow showers and hopefully something more substantial early morning. Like many here though - I'm worried about the marginality of it all.

Also wish I'd get more soft hail- love that stuff!!

I’m still quite optimistic about tonight really but will have to see.

Which town? I presume you mean Birkenhead? Nothing here just rain and hail.

Liverpool. Could’ve been a hail cover rather than snow I suppose. There is an inversion above the surface need to get rid of it soon as possible.
