Not looking good here, although there are some 'pink' returns over The Wolds to the west. Temp now up to 2.0°C with a DP of 1.8°C. More hope than expectation overnight but, as they say, it's the hope that kills!

The precipitation type on the radar is based on mode data, it’s not live. That’s why it will change all of a sudden or just be wrong.

Just got light rain in Hull like we’ve had for the past 24 hours.

@Kasim Awan Does Sheffield have to worry about wet bulb temps and water content? Or is our central placing and average sea level enough to negate this?

This situation is only really applicable east of the area. It can occur when temporary heavy snow settles with a dew point at 0 to 0.3 and a wet bulb over 0.5.

Creates a horrible slushy layer which struggles to accumulate moderate snow, this moderate snow is of a intensity & so the surface cold forcing is lost and can not be maintained by the poor temps.

Really heavy now. This is going to be the best event for Yorkshire as a whole!

Depends who you listen to I guess, as is usually the case in there

I haven't posted but looked at models and it's fine. Low over north sea next week. Systems trying to push in but getting no further than us. Snow chances aplenty

Looking at the radar, the 'sleet line' has now reached Howden and is making steady progress this way. Somewhat puzzled by the rise of temperature (now 2.2°C!) which, based on recent days, is not related to the sun rising. Dawn here is pretty insipid at the moment under this cloud and my room light is still on.....

Good to hear PIT. Considering the almost steady temp of the last 36 hours, this rise is quite pronounced.

Are you on the southern side of Sheffield? It's been snow for half an hour here and we're only a little higher. Your temps seem higher, too. I used to think your weather station over-read but I think it's more to do with your location

Just on a bus, we're making our way slowly to Barnsley.

I'm questioning now whether I've made the right decision trying to get to work (I'm a carer, so that is a yes obviously!)

Going to be interesting trying to get home though

Currently out, wife needing to shop for her 92 year old dad, so gives me opportunity to give the XC60 All Wheel Drive a test!  It doesn’t get that very often!

Main roads out of Barnsley now white over and traffic is slow.  Will be interesting getting back into our street and drive given it’s block paved and slippy at the best of times!
