Could it be another Great Yorkshire Dump event?

After that and the other suprise snow events in other parts since, I would think they're being very cautious.

Hold up forget Wednesday and Thursday what is this regional forecast for tonight?!

I know it talks about snow "mainly on the hills" but I didn't realise it was even marginal tonight?

-5c with snow cover?  Interesting.....

I think the mention of snow cover is more aimed at those who still have snow from then last week or so. I was on the North York Moors today and above 350m there was still 100% cover.

GFS this evening kills the earlier snow chances but keeps the freezing rain possibility overnight Wednesday into Thursday as the cold uppers and weather front is shunted further eastward. Saturday now looks interesting as we manage to get some cold uppers back for that.

So unless you like freezing rain another wait is on the cards.

Met office catching up ditching the sleet until Thursday evening however the uppers are still to warm so unlikely.

Thank you I found a 'how high above sea level am I' app. 160m so thats settled things for me. Knew it was over the 150m mark

Thursday/Friday event looking like one of those surprise short notice, significant snow events. Lets hope it pulls off and it doesnt look like it will leave quickly either. Amber warnings at the ready?

Will probably change and I don't hold the snow accumalulation charts on any model in high regard. We saw how nowcasting last Friday was. Think some places had a foot of snow last Friday if I remember. Don't think the snow charts were accurate with depths at least.

Would love that to be correct lee but just can't see it, thinking cold rain and temps of 2/3c most parts. 250m+ could see a good event though, hope I'm wrong.

The 72hr fax chart looking to have moved the front a little west - hopefully better for more widespread snow as also shown by the 18z para run. West Yorkshire northwards looks well primed and I dare to say that Harrogate may strike lucky again.  Only speculation as too early to say, things have changed a few times today already!

This one may be good for a Yorkshire wide event - we wish!

Looking at the charts I have a bad feeling for South Yorkshire that they'll see rain.

It could be an unusual event where York is buried in snow while in Sheffield it's raining.

Freezing rain still possible over Wednesday night into early hours of Thursday. Colder uppers on the latest GFS dig back in and should turn the rain to Snow during Thursday. Heavy rain Saturday could see a Rain to Snow event as well.

I assume that means better snow chances for our region?

According to the Met Office website for BD19 8-1 wednesday is rain and SW/S winds, winds back easterly after 1pm. Thursday is when snow is expected.

Met Office has 1C>2C through the event so very borderline.

Generally speaking the later it arrives, the stronger than modelled the block likely is. It was already supposed to arrive by 5am yesterday.

Good morning all. It all seems too marginal tomorrow. Places that will start with snow on Wednesday afternoon might end with 25-30cm or even more by Thursday afternoon.
