Another covering here this morning - smaller than the last 2. If Thursday/Friday could deliver something, I'd be quite happy with this spell even though its been disappointing to not have any extreme cold.

The front tomorrow is still showing and if anything appears to gain some intensity as it reaches us - fingers crossed it won't be taken away from us at the last minute!

Not particularly optimistic about our chances tomorrow night.  Wary of snow from the North as it tends to break up before us and even sometimes reforms further south.  Some areas might get lucky. GFS shows more precipitation, UKV and Euro 4 much less . Will be a nowcast

January 2004 thundersnow was the biggest fail here from a snow band from the North. Unbelievable how it broke up before here and then reformed .

Any news on that front tomorrow evening?  Met office warning looks underwhelming again.  Only for ice.

Local automated forecast concurs and just shows rain and sleet tomorrow evening

GFS still going for it in a downgraded manner. Bloody icy out there. Actually found some snow lower down from where I live. Shows what happens when you're lucky and actually get a snow shower.

I guess it depends on whether the secondary low forms and far north it develops.

Looks like the initial band is going to thin out quite considerably, however this will, as ever, be a nowcasting event, does look a lot more beefy than presented on the tv. Although It’s not the initial band that intrigues me, another system looks to be modelled and its whether it spins towards our region I think this is the same system @John90 has alluded to. Looks too far north, Not an expert. Fingers crossed we can get something out of this.

Was hoping for some low temperatures this evening but got some pesky cloud keeping those temperatures from dropping too quickly.

So two thirds mild and one third cold. La Lina mild this type of warming statistically mild and just one set for cold. BTW not serious.

Not to be taken too seriously of course, because we know the accuracy of the auto generated forecasts....

Although it does seem to be supported by all the hi-res models and the GFS & ECM, with the initial front that is moving North to South breaking down as it arrives in our area but then showers from the North East getting going quickly after.

Looks like GFS has lead the way with this band of snow. Now heavy snow is forecasted over night.

Big change in the forecast overnight. Early forecast the recorded one light patchy snow then after six Snow up to ten centimeters.

GFs has drifted a little from the orginal snow cast and is generally showing a more messy look to things on the 06oz so I would say it's still a nowcast situation
