Looking at the Metoffice website we are back in Yellow warning territory again Friday and Saturday. Is this going to be yet another over reaction? People will not take warnings seriously and then when there is a real threat people will ignore it.

My goodness these cells are growing mighty fast!

I'm on the edge of one and the raindrops are HUGE!!!

It'll be fun by late afternoon I reckon but I think all slightly East of me here on the Border of East Lancs/West Yorks?

An interesting journey this afternoon from Pickering to Whitby. Good views from the Hole of Horcum of storm clouds over the moors, with a deluge reported from Grosmont mid-afternoon. V localised and have not seen any rain at Whitby .... yet!

A serious accident caused a lengthy diversion at the top of Blue Bank near Sleights and my thoughts are with those who were involved.

Had a light shower here at teatime on the Wolds, nothing that would benefit the garden, more to come later in the week perhaps?

Had light rain since 19.30, started to intensify in the last hour with an increase in wind for company, garden getting a good soaking at last,

Just got back from my lunchtime bike ride, started in sunlight, ended in heavy rain, got drenched, a small respite, and now raining hard again.

Absolute rotten day in Bridlington.

6mm of rainfall to 1pm (since 7am) and had some really heavy downpours in the 2 hours since.

Certainly been a very wet summer generally compared to recent years (more particularly 2018).

Everything is soaking wet here now and very lush !

Tremendous rainfall at times in Bridlington today and certainly NOT a warm August sunny day by any means !

There was a thunderstorm about 2 weeks ago that gave 13mm in 40 mins and we have seen something similar today.

Will be interesting to see the 7pm rainfall for the 6 hours since 1pm.

The only good thing is neither me or Mrs Mike57 can cope with heat. Just steady rain now. Debating about tomorrow's project which is to clear my workshop out and put new racking up. Means moving everything outside, so not sure.

The ground is absolutely soaking after today.

It made me laugh the extreme heat warning that was issued last month , when it was actually cooler than recent summers for England.

In Bridlington 23c is classed as a hot day and it rarely goes higher than this.

It did reach around 29c in 2018 though !

Only 4.3mm so far this month. At the moment a degree below normal. Low twenties suite me so twenty 23c is perfect.

When we moved 15 years ago we had a fairly wide area to choose from, one consideration which swung it to where we are is the fact that  even during a heatwave we miss the worst of it here.

Yes as it can be absolutely boiling in places like Hull , Cottingham and of course further west and south (like Lincoln and Doncaster).

A uninteresting day today weather not doing much of anything. A few spots of rain but not enough to wet the ground this afternoon. It did mean that I managed to put my replacement security camera up this afternoon after a walk this morning.

Bit of a mixed day round these parts, intermittent showers, then the late afternoon it dried up, but then the wind picked up making it uncomfortable sitting outside although still mild,
