We won't be seeing anything today, the stuff coming out of Norfolk it's just dieing away as it does so.

Got above freezing earlier but now back down below.

Last chance for an ice day tomorrow 🤞❄️

Shade helps it stay intact, my back garden is on a North East side so gets very little sun this time of year, there's hardly a flake left at front where sun gets to most of it.

Yes similar with me, part shelter on the front and more so on the back, in both cases a barely actual 1 cm depth is still > 0.5 cm where the sun has not reached. It is also helped by the low mean daily temperature, currently on 0.0 C for the past 5 days.

GFS throws up spring for next weekend if it happens that's going to be a 17 degree difference almost from Saturday to Saturday. UKMO less keen casting vote ECM.

Time to get the shorts and t-shirts out then... 😲.  Judging by latest wording from Meto, they appear to be seeing something a bit less extreme to this... 🤷🏼‍♂️

A little bit far out of reliable time frame.

About as much chance of happening as me waking up to a sack full of Valentine's cards this weekend. 😁

Despite the models now showing a blow torch South/South Westerly for the 10 days time, the Met Office are stoically sticking to their forecast of a few milder days before turning colder again.... 🤷🏼‍♂️

Unless there's a big flip, which is unlikely, they'll change their extended outlook this weekend. The Azores high is very strong and models are always at their best forecasting this certain pattern.

I’m surprised they didn’t change it yesterday, although Marco Petagna also tweeted yesterday that cold from the East would be back again possibly as soon as next Friday!

There are signals of the deep cold reforming in NE Russia by the end of February. Blocking will be favorable for this cold to shift west around the first 10 days of March.

Historically March is always a good month for snow in Europe. Even countries in SE Europe like Greece had the best snow depths in March. So mild spell until the end of February and we have a full month that could still deliver the goods.

Well with the air finally getting dry we lost some snow last night as it evaporated away. I was thinking about gritting the back path as it was getting icier and icier no need to now.

Shortened my walk round the local woods as the sheet ice made walking iffy not wishing to slip and end up with broken leg. Took the car for a run over the top to which nearly became a very expensive trip due to a huge pot hole thankfully since I was going slow due to ice I got away with it.

Your thinking is similar to mine, particularly re timescales for a return of cold which is why I thought the Petagna tweet yesterday was a bit odd re cold returning possibly Friday!  Timescale felt wrong yesterday and having seen overnight models, even more so this morning.

And completely agree re snow in March, I’ve seen really good snow falls many times over the years.

More recently, we actually got caught in the BFTE2 in March 18 whilst we were away for a few days in Filey!  The vid below was 3 hours before high tide, which if you know Filey is quite astonishing.

Is the front moving faster than forecasted?

It looks to have moved faster and is slightly further East compared to WRF-NMM and Euro4, but I’d say it’s now starting to stall against the block as was expected.  Could be a good temporary covering over Wales today.

so, as this current cold spell looks like comming to an end this weekend i have to say its been the best we have had for a few years, a few snowy days with laying snow, freezing cold at times, but now with the chance of some spring like warmth next week i am more than ready for it.
