There's more snow on ground over East side of Rotherham than here at Ecclesfield.

The snow accumulation charts look much better for us now which is good.

I'm on edge of Ecclesfield and Parson Cross and you're right. Guessing it's due to the snow showers ever so slightly less intense when they get here. Fascinating local variations to come though.

I feel we need some intensification and organisation of the showers if we're to justify the amber warning. I await the morning with interest and if I'm honest a little scepticism 😄

This is why frontal snow is better 😉

Especially for more widespread consistent snow falls.

    A good day ahead I feel 😉

5pm - 10pm looks the best bet for all the region. Watch for the streamer thats appeared out of nowhere and wenesday on ecm suddenly has a tighter gradient and lower heights meaning we could be looking at additional easterly winds now

Nothing overnight, but now snowing in Barnsley! It was a relatively brief shower but settled immediately and we now have a dusting which is blowing about in the strong wind.  I can drifting becoming an issue where falls are significant.

As Scott has said above, the Euro4 is a huge upgrade  right across the region in terms of settled snow.  This is upto 7am Wednesday.

Convection looks to be turning a bit shallower out in the North Sea now. Constant light showers packing together rather than the beefier ones we’ve seen so far this morning. Not sure if this is a good or a bad thing?

Slight dusting in Penistone, much like most places.

    currently it's -1.8 with a dew of -3.4. 88% humidity.

looks like a showery day, not much to write home about

Tracking the showers progress on the Radar, and for my location in Barnsley, anything coming off the sea and hitting land just south of Flamborough Head seems to be on target for me currently.  I’d suggest anyone south of me, look south of Flamborough or if you are north look north of Flamborough.  I’d expect this to change today as the wind veers.

The best beefiest showers are running in a line from Bradford/just north of and Wetherby and the North York Moors. Not S.Yorks as expected (yet!)

Lincs and Derbyshire look to be getting some good showers as well 🙂

I’ve noticed this as well.  My logic would be.... Heavier more dispersed showers tend to be more hit and miss for an individual location but more impactful where they hit.  Lower intensity more widespread showers gives more locations snow at anyone time and therefore less hit and miss so potentially more accumulation overall.  Might be flawed logic, but that would be my take.
