Well for what it's worth look North just now did show clear streamers around our region tonight and tomorrow. Looks good around here! BBC not the best I know but it does match up with the other forecasts were seeing. 🌨️🤞

Sorry guys. My mums still in a really bad way. I just wanted to post to quickly say tonight in my opinin is being underestimated. The trend today has been to keep the front as all snow

Around 50cm has fallen across the highest parts of the North York Moors yesterday. Went for a walk this morning at Newgate Bank. Around 30cm of fresh powdery snow underfoot and quite difficult to

Last one from me, great day...just stopped now so 11 hours of snow 👍👏👏 Hope those that missed out get some soon 🤞👍

I work at an FE College and it was always the waiting game - we would check what the other colleges were doing - the ones on the outskirts closed first, us in the middle of the city at lower levels had to wait until all the others shut by which time, the roads would be shocking and getting home was a nightmare. Lot to be said for working from home

In the snow in January, the school where my daughter works opened and so did the school where my sons girlfriend works.  They both ended up closing mid-morning but that point is was too late.  Both had to walk home having abandoned their cars, with my daughter walking 4 miles taking kids and my sons girlfriend having to walk 10 miles to get home!

Euro4 12z now out.  A selection of precip charts and the culm snow cover by the end of the run (Tuesday 19.00, so earlier than GEM).

Overall highest totals look slightly further South compared to GEM, but a good wide area and some really big totals in there!  Will post a comparison to 6z run shortly.

Main thing is that it hasn't taken it further south with those bigger totals from 06z. I'm stoked! Middle ground would bring them a tad north too if GEM is correct

That winter was brutal - we lived out in the sticks (even for Lincolnshire!) and it seemed to go on forever. The mid February spell of snow and gales is about the most apocalyptic weather conditions I've seen in the UK away from the Scottish mountains. I had three weeks extra off school between November and March, a joy offset by the fact we lived in a house with no central heating and several spells of no running water because of burst pipes. I doubt I'll ever see another winter like it in this country.

I remember when that started like it was yesterday. I've still never seen a sky that colour ever it was liquid silver moving and the first snow that dropped in Beverley started at 3.30 just when school had finished - it never settled it was like ultra fine dry graupel and just formed in piles as it blew in waves across the floor. The following day it was knee deep on me as a 10 year old. The following day the school water tank exploded like a cartoon barrel amazing stuff. I'd love to see that one more time. Could talk about that winter forever ❄️❄️❄️❤️

This snow total chart from the Euro4 looks absolutely stunning. If this is as near as damn it then we have done exceptionally well in our region.

Here is a comparison of the snow culm for Euro4 0z, 6z and 12z.  They aren’t a direct comparison as they are always for T+54.  Slight variations in position, width of deepest snow and depths, but all look good!

It's not anything you could class a streamer, just more coastal instability than you might expect being fed from the southern low.

Cold waves hitting Europe continue to threaten growers, is there a link to climate change?

Much of Europe, not just the UK, has experienced unseasonably cold weather since the Easter Weekend. A plunge of cold arctic air brought by northerly winds early last week brought several nights of frost and even snow across large swathes of Europe, followed by another wave of cold arctic air spreads across much of Europe this week. The frosts causing damage to new growth in vineyards and orchardsa0spurred on by a late March heatwave, the vineyards of France werea0particularly badly affected.
