Hardly mild.

Outlook for Tuesday to Thursday:

A wet and windy day on Tuesday, with snow for many though gradually becoming confined to high ground. Drier, brighter and milder on Wednesday. Rain perhaps returning on Thursday.

Friday 5 Feb - Sunday 14 Feb

Low pressure dominant over the UK at first bringing showers and perhaps spells of rain and snow over northern areas on Friday, with a chance of snow to lower levels. Further south milder and cloudy with showers. High pressure then looks to gradually build to the north, introducing cold and dry weather across the UK with the chance of wintry showers along eastern coastal areas. Feeling cold especially in brisk easterly winds with widespread overnight frosts and the risk of icy stretches and wintry hazards. There remains the possibility of milder and wetter conditions fringing the far northwest at times along with organised areas of cloud and precipitation making limited progress inland from the southwest.

UKMO 12Z 144hrs

Takes its time clearing that low south eastwards but it gets there eventually.

850s chart not available yet but one would think they'd be a bit chilleh.

Tuesday I would say 5-10cm quite widely for Inland areas on higher ground (150m+). low lying areas 2-5cm. May stay as snow throughout at all levels Inland but the snow will be quite wet to lower levels hindering accumulations.

UKMO 850S at 144hrs are out.

Coldest air not there yet but would be flooding in shortly after.

Considering the chop and changing within T96 time period a word of warning of low confidence in chart at T144.

Nice Ice candy but don't get carried away yet.

Arpege, Arome and Harmonie all give snow for Tuesday, albeit slightly different timings and duration.

GFS and GFSP still less keen on quite so much snow.

True. I'm not even getting excited about Tuesday. I just hope for some good runs tonight and tomorrow to cheer me up after the abysmal performance and result against Leeds today.

GFS still showing widespread snow across the region Tuesday morning but snowfall amounts look minimal away from Dales/Pennines, especially for those further east.

Short GEFS 12z for Malton

Mean 850s around -9c with some slight scatter. What could go wrong?

Yes fair result tbh. We were completely shut down today and Perez was absent all game. I hope Leeds will strengthen their D next season. We need more teams challenging the "big" clubs and fighting for Top 4.

Local forecast has the wintry mix continuing to lunchtime. Probably too long but we shall see.

NMM gives about 7 hours of fairly heavy snow across the region.  Given this is a highly rated short range hi-res model, that is a promising outlook

If it is, he’ll be telling us we are in mild south westerlies and summer is about to start

True what you say about the Beeb though!  This winter every time I’ve caught a forecast they seem to have been about 12 hours behind the latest models.  Given the speed of change, that has been useless!

Lol. His mood was something to savour whenever he had to do a forecast involving snow....
