Just for you guys! Compare these and you'll see why I've been optimistic.

Sorry guys. My mums still in a really bad way. I just wanted to post to quickly say tonight in my opinin is being underestimated. The trend today has been to keep the front as all snow

Last one from me, great day...just stopped now so 11 hours of snow 👍👏👏 Hope those that missed out get some soon 🤞👍

Around 50cm has fallen across the highest parts of the North York Moors yesterday. Went for a walk this morning at Newgate Bank. Around 30cm of fresh powdery snow underfoot and quite difficult to

Just wondering if we will catch the edge of the snow over Ireland and the west country before it sinks way south east.

Sadly the low on Tuesday is too deep. I don't think we are escaping a short snow to rain event below 300m.

Sorry southerners but its a big YES from me for the 6z GFS.

Its very knife edge between NO AND SNOW but we really do reap the rewards of the cold/mild battle.

Hope we still see something Tuesday! We've had a few missed chances recently and I'm ready to see snow again now!

Also, does the meto website use direct feed data from the ukmo model runs? I thought so, but current temps showing for Thurs, Fri and sat are disappointing. Was thinking we'd be more like ice days and snow showers piling in on the predicted easterly but it's still showing 5 or 6c!

    Was expecting better!

Harmonie gives 4-5 hours of snow, but not as good as Arpege.

Slight change of direction of conversation, but has anyone compared current Radar with hi-res models?!  Might not come to anything, but to my eye the ppn is much further East than any of the models predicted today.   Have a look at 6z NMM, which had the ppn barely reaching the coast of Wales before heading South East.  It’s already 50-100 miles East of that.  Could we see the ppn edge into the South of our region to see some snow before it dives South East?

Yes I noticed that earlier also. I didn’t see any of the Hi-Res models forecasting what was happening currently on the radar...

That is quite a change!  It’s not just the position of the low but also the intensity which changes the progress West to East of the associated front.  Then as a consequence the transition from snow to rain is much slower.

The Easterly isn’t due to kick in until next weekend.  We’ve got a slightly less cold couple of days following the snow Tuesday then It could start getting interesting Saturday/Sunday.

Thanks. Maybe I was being too impatient lol!

Saw all the cold 850s filtering down quite early in the run but then thought the temps looked too high

Only moved to our new home since December and our next door neighbour said years and years ago the farmer at top of the hill used to set up a tow rope with a tractor for skiing and snowboarding. Mind blown! Looks like we might get that farmer to relive this moment next week 😆

Some more good news is that the GFS 6z was an outlier for the end of this coming week with regards to how long it takes for that low to sink south allowing the cold 850s to then flood in from the east.

Here are the 6z GEFS for Malton showing the Op was an outlier as many other members drop much earlier and seem to cluster around the -10c line.

Now when was the last time we saw a mean of -10c!!! Surely we cant miss out this time, fingers crossed 12z EC backs this up.

Always possible but we won't have to wait too long for more.

True, it looks brief to me either way, so will keep a lot of the cover for rest of week.

Interesting, the boundary just needs to move a smidge south to me, completely possible at this range.
