Sorry guys. My mums still in a really bad way. I just wanted to post to quickly say tonight in my opinin is being underestimated. The trend today has been to keep the front as all snow

Around 50cm has fallen across the highest parts of the North York Moors yesterday. Went for a walk this morning at Newgate Bank. Around 30cm of fresh powdery snow underfoot and quite difficult to

Last one from me, great day...just stopped now so 11 hours of snow 👍👏👏 Hope those that missed out get some soon 🤞👍

Thanks for the photos folk, it must be great to be in the sun with snow all around; here vis has got worse since dawn, now about 200m, and the temperature on -0.7 C from the low of -0.9 C.

No sign of freezing fog on twigs and branches but about 2mm of ice on all the snow surfaces, total depth 4 cm when I finally ventured out, feeding birds and emptying rubbish.

Interesting as to if snow falls for a time overnight on low ground. Not studied it but might find time to do that. For sure it will get milder during tomorrow and through to about Tuesday. After that then about 4 days probable of colder again.

Suppose that's why you spelt my name wrong 😉

The set up tomorrow relies on cold surface air which is shallower further west. This means, following any temporary front edge light snow (poss 30 mins), the situation will become quite marginal with heavy precip producing snow, moderate precip producing rain. Nonetheless accumulations of 3-7cm above 250m and 1-4cm in some areas below 250m are possible. East of the A1, especially into Lincolnshire and East Anglia the cold air is colder and more expansive in the atmosphere. The front is also slowing down. This will produce more conducive conditions for longer below 250m. A prolonged spell of moderate to heavy snow is therefore likely across central / southern Lincs and East Anglia. Also parts of the SE, here mostly above 250ft favoured due to a southerly wind. Totals here are most likely to fall between 1 and 5cm for roughly 60% inland to higher levels above 100-150m up to 8cm possible. Again some uncertainty related to the speed of the front too fast and it will remove the surface cold too quickly and slower will allow more snow. The first would drastically limit snow totals.

It's rare South Yorkshire does very well from Irish Sea streamers. As by the time the wind swings to the W from WSW it has lost the strength to push the showers that far east.

IMO tonight isn't worth getting up for unless you haven't got any snow currently and want to see a possibly transient cover.

Possible we might get an additional 1-2cm, between 2 and 4am but as outside is like a Alpine postcard anyway I can't get excited.  Might as well just enjoy the current snow today. The main thing tomorow unfortunately will be that the snow will be a slushy mess  and be thawing rapidly.  An amazing event though, good winter so far.
