Just started here near Bridlington, thunder, lightning and now starting to rain,

Yes about 15 mins rain, some rumbles, and a couple of visible flashes here, better than nothing... Looking at storm forecast it seems as if activity is slightly north of that predicted, so maybe not done for the day

About the same here, a few rumbles and a short shower, not amounting to much at all.
Just a freshener for the garden.

Elements more akin to Autumn this last couple of days here.
Back to wearing a big coat, walking in a fresh breeze and mizzle.
lots of yellowed leaves falling and the blackbirds starting to feast on the almost
ripe rowan berries .. seems strange for the end of July.

I'm watching the band of rain to the south of us moving in. Some very bright echoes on there no lightning as of yet but one never knows. Strangely Helen Willets was going on about thunder in the showers when there hasn't been a single strike so far today.  However there's a chance that we are just too far north and it may just miss us.

I headed back across the Pennines from N Yorkshire to Cheshire this morning. A cool fresh morning when I set out but rain soon started and rained steadily (rather than heavily) along the A64, M1 and M62 until I dropped down towards Rochdale and Manchester, whereupon the rain stopped and it brightened up. Definitely a case of 'West is best' although whether that will continue over the weekend, with a cold wind setting in, I don't know.

We're just avoiding the heaviest of rain by a few miles here but our luck won't last forever.

Hoping for a crack of thunder later to liven up the day.

Horrible deluge here in Rotherham.

Very heavy and dark like winter!

Haven't heard any thunder though

Think the heaviest rain has been here torrential for long periods I wouldn't be surprised if there is flash flooding in the rother Valley.

That's my thinking as well. It has all the ingredients to cause major localised flooding with the arc of the low and associated precip plus the intensity  Given downtown Ecclesfield is really prone to flooding it is a blessing we are currently missing the worst of this band.

Looking at the radar for Sheffield, it's the S20 area, particularly Eckington and Killamarsh, that have copped the most rain so far.

That is where I am it was tropical type downpours at times with the rain rushing up out of the drains thankfully it eased off.

The heavy rain was far from torrential here and we've just nudged up to 10mm. The rain eased by mid afternoon and just been light since then. A very cold day here. I'd be surprised if any rivers flood as we just come off a 13 day dry spell up to 26th. Okay block gullies and drains may cause some local flooding but that will mostly to do with bad council maintenance than anything else really.

Have had persistent heavy rain here since 7pm, been fantastic for the garden, but made the dog walk rather brisk

I see I'm under a Met Office Yellow Warning for Thunderstorm disruption today from
Midday to 9pm.

Yes Mike, same here, a really heavy downpour now but no sign of thunder so far.

I think a yellow warning is a bit OTT. Looking at storm forecast on here its 10% chance, and its the end of July we get showers and storms. Don't see a risk of severe storms, so why the yellow warning.

Today would be classed as overcast! Mild and dry enough to get a few garden jobs done, then the sun came out after 4pm just in time for a shandy at the local sat in the beer garden
