Interesting today temp at 09:00 is exactly the same as the record breaking July temperature. Can't see it reaching that but 30C should be passed. Yesterday did hit 30C according to my Stevenson screen.

Well despite forecasts for today to be hotter than yesterday it hasn't turned out that way here. Only just got past 28c so nearly 2c below yesterday. Not sure why but was more cloud for a while and more breeze so guess the air was mixed up more.

Horrible warm week to come, had enough now. No sleep for us this week we'll all be shattered by next weekend!

Roll on October

More overcast on the coast today, hopefully leading to lower temperatures. Last night was humid with no breeze, quite uncomfortable. Neither me or Mrs Mike57 like the heat, so we are hoping thats the end of the heat for this summer.

Yeah it's much nicer today. Felt cooler this morning and the heat today is much lower. Nicer to be outside in for a bit.

Just noticed that our area, in common with the whole of England and Wales south of a line from roughly Barmouth to Bridlington is under a yellow warning for rain Saturday and Sunday from the Metoffice. Netweather forecast is showing no rain at the moment for either day here, technically just outside the area, but only by about 2 miles, and Hull which is well inside the area is just showing a few showers. I know the Metoffice warnings look at impact and likelihood, but even so I would expect the Netweather forecast to show some rain over the period. Is this another Metoffice overreaction...

Yes, it took until lunchtime for the sun to come out, but a blue sky afternoon and evening in Whitby and still very warm despite more of a breeze than last night.

Good chance of thunderstorms for the Pennine area today. Risk starts from around 3pm it seems.

Something already seems to be forming south of Bradford.

Yes, looks as though there is thunder activity to the west of the Pennines, see NW thread. Nothing similar here on the N Yorkshire coast and quite surprised when the cloud rolled in (and stayed) at 3pm leading to a chilly evening compared to late.

Very fine misty precipitation falling here this morning. Not enough for a coat or brolly.benough to need wipers about every 5 mins it so.

Nothing on radar at all though.

Honestly though, it's nice to be walking in it, cooling I'll be complaining later when it's evaporating and it's humid though

Yup early drizzle however it is nice to have cool day. This may last all day doesn't seem to want to burn off.

Grey overcast day round here, still 20c at 17.30 so pleasant enough to sit out, can't complain tho it has been a stunning last 7 days,

Another grey over cast day, although mild through out the day, the evening turned chilly, perfect for sleeping!

A nice ending to the day back at Whitby although with a cool breeze  off the moors. I wonder whether we shall get any of the forecast thundery activity late tomorrow or overnight into Wednesday. Rather hoping not as I've got an early start on Wednesday morning!

Still waiting here, its been a very dry month. Been very humid again today, not really hot, just uncomfortable.  Also lots of black bugs out at lunchtime, had to get a shower straight after my lunchtime bike ride as I was covered in thrips.

Had a nice drop of rain here in the last hour, eased up now, probably not enough to give the garden a proper soaking tho,

A much fresher day on the coast, and looking at the radar we could finally get some proper rain and storms by late afternoon, but as we know it can all fizzle out
