Back in Whitby for a few days and a nice evening following a dry warm afternoon. Let's hope it lasts!

Enjoy your few days, you've left behind some steady rainfall here in Cheshire.

A uniformly drab dreary day on the N Yorkshire coast, and decidedly un-summer-y with a cool wind off the North Sea.

Living in Scarborough you get used to this rubbish. A sunny day is a bonus.

A very cool and cloudy day in Bridlington today.

All the heat has come out of the house from recent weeks with these low daytime values.

14c does not do it for the last day of June !

Lots of lightning from this storm. Netweather is showing us as having 99mm of rain before 1am, I REALLY hope that is wrong, but looking how its forming on the radar I can see why that might be possible. Already lost power once, can see it being a long night.

A thundery shower yesterday evening brief spell of heavy rain which forced a bumble to fly and take shelter. If watched the footie then fly out as the rain eased. So we have Bumble bee england footie fan.

Had a couple of brief downpours and  thunderstorm this afternoon.
Not amounting to much but a good refresher for the garden.

A few rumbles in the distance looking down the valley towards Malton,

Absolutely nothing at the coast, and looking at the radar nothing incoming.

Very heavy shower and a rumble of thunder here. Rotation at the back edge of the storm tried to form a funnel cloud but didn't quite make it. I got some video I will try and post it later.

I came across to Whitby (again) today from S Cheshire. Torrential rain on the M62 near Leeds and didn't really stop raining until I was virtually into Whitby. No surprise that the cloud and sea mist has rolled in here but the promise of something better later in the week.

Agreed Wold Topper although it took until 1-2pm for the sun to come out at Whitby. However after that, a glorious summer day, but not too hot and stuffy.

It was like a switch was flicked after lunch, but still pleasant and not to stifling with a pleasant breeze,

A repeat performance today, cloudy on the moors this morning, glorious on the coast this afternoon and evening.

Had an early morning walk around Goathland aka Aidensfield (Heartbeat) before heading back to the NW and Cheshire. Absolutely glorious and no sign of the crowds that will have invaded the village later in the day. No sign either of yesterday afternoon's cooling breeze, and looks like a hot busy weekend in Whitby and along the N Yorkshire coast generally.

Turned cloudy again here in the afternoon but it had already got hot and unpleasant. Hit 27.2C which I believe is the hottest day so far this summer. Should hit 30C tomorrow in places.
