We are under a spell of fairly persistent rain this morning, its been raining since I got up at 5.30. Looking at Radar its seems to be quite localised. We need the rain, but of course it has to wait for the Bank Holiday weekend...

Certainly a very wet morning in Bridlington with some rather heavy rain which is only just now easing.

More like a November day here so far with cold temperatures for the last day in April.

Been a very poor month with regards to warmth but plenty of sunshine of course and many frosts at night !

Some folk been out in shorts over the last month here but spring hasn't even started (never mind summer lol)

Happy Bank Holiday weekend everyone

6mm of rainfall to 7am today at Bridlington weather station on the north beach.

So certainly 4mm since so could be on for 12mm today (or half an inch).

Wettest day in over a month for sure thanks to very slow moving showers !

Now glorious sunshine and gentle breeze in Brid and a mass exodus of towns and cities has started heading for the east coast.

Expect 20 mile tailbacks heading for Bridlington, Filey and Scarborough.

The heatwave has arrived ☀️☀️☀️☀️☀️☀️☀️☀️☀️☀️

Turned into a pleasant day here once the cloud began to break up this afternoon.

They call it a heatwave in the East Riding of Yorkshire even before it has hit 15c lol !

Had some quite heavy showers in Lincoln yesterday with hail at one point, but only light showers today, and quite cloudy with a fair amount of "infill" cloud.  Two more showery days coming up, but then Monday looks like being a washout, in contrast to many recent Bank Holiday Mondays.  I'm keeping an eye on the possibility of wintry showers penetrating into the northern half of England on Wednesday.

Final rainfall total here for April is 5.4mm. very dry indeed. Looking at my data, most of that came in the last hour of April last night between 11pm and midnight!

Must have caught a late heavy shower!

Will we be seeing more frosts in may next week and maybe even a snow flake? I hope so as a weather enthusiast!

Another day of significant showers, home missed them, but we were in Cottingham today, and had some heavy rain around 3pm, what was more surprising was the temperatures, in the rain coming home car outside temp dropped from 9 to 4C in the rain, and there was winteryness in it, not sure if it was the remnants of hail or snow, but you could see it as it hit the windscreen, this was the area around Skidby, so no real elevation. I know car temp gauges are not that accurate, but it was the drop that was significant,

Well I've recorded more rain today than the whole of April!!

Strange weather, looks like we're in for a very different period now though ?️

Some sleet on top this morning when I went for a walk in Manifold. Turned to rain of course on the journey back. If the band of rain keeps moving south west and doesn't die out there maybe more sleet and perhaps snow on the top this evening.

The radar looks lively for this afternoon and now it's gone very dark, we now have hailstones bigger than frozen peas, it's May for flips sake, time to light the wood burner,

Over half an inch, some of these. I want summer now, this is ridiculous!

Looks fun!

Quite interesting to watch out front of my house, dark and shower after shower training by.  Radar shows it's about 3 miles away getting every shower but totally dry here.

Thanks 4wd, absolutely beautiful. Where was it filmed? Looks a bit like Rosedale or the Hole of Horcum. I was near Whitby today and could see black clouds and obvious activity on the moors, but we stayed dry and bright all day, and I think we must have been sheltered on the coast, although the air was still chilly.

Mainly Rosedale opposite Lion Inn on Blakey, at the start is halfway up Farndale

Beautiful part of Moors. Loved walking in those parts many many years ago.
