Fairly grey and still this morning in Hudds so I thought I'd get out on my bike. Went along A62 through Marsden and over Standedge, was pretty foggy at the top, but almost immediately cleared and by the time I'd dropped down to Diggle it was bright sunshine. Followed the road round then back up past Dovestones, again was bright sunshine all the way up, but I could see the fog bank at the top. Sure enough almost exactly at the crest I was back into fog, and by the time I got to Wessenden Head it was really thick (not that that seemed to be having much effect on the speed of the passing cars, and lights are obviously optional............), and bl**dy freezing, so very glad I'd decided to put on all my cold weather gear. Dropped down to Digley, turned left at Holme, and then grey all the way back through Holmfirth, and no chance to warm up all the way home, so was glad of the hot bath when i got in. A real example of an east - west split today, one of the rare occasions when I think I'd rather have been in Lancashire!

Yes it's been decidedly chilly here today. Foggy until lunch time and only a max of 4c

March coming in like a quiet lamb it seems

When the lollypop lady asks me if it is true snow is coming I thought I better take things seriously. Where are these rumours coming from?

Transient snow is certainly possible over the weekend probably reserved for the highest ground as milder air bumps into the cold air all standard stuff really for the beginning of March really nothing to get excited about hopefully some proper spring weather not to far off.

Another cold and cloudy day, temperature not much above freezing, we seemed to have stepped back into winter when last weekend it felt Spring like.

still there on the model runs the morning forecast on the Beeb brushed past it and the lack of warnings suggest the confidence is low at the moment.

Warnings out from the Met GFS downgrades it further. Any further downgrades tomorrow and will be nothing of note. At the moment we may scrape a 50mph gust on todays run.

Persistent rain and winds slowly picking up. Hopefully get a fairly wild night, seems a while since I had winds rattling round the chimney.

Went to the shops and then got an average of speed of 28mph but still only a 47mph max gust. Was expecting more overnight but soon after I went to the bed the roar from the trees subsided and remained fairly quiet overnight.

Huge squall woke me up just after midnight.  The security light kept coming on.
I don't think I've ever seen more torrential rain, absolutely full force hammering on the windows.
The wind is howling outside now.  Sorry no readings to give.

Yep just after midnight we lost a ridge tile that smashed next to our wheelie bins and the black bin is due out this morning so that was lucky it happened when it it did, also we had a small tree come down  in the back garden at the same time

Just had a good look and we lost seven ridge tiles some went into next doors drive.

Well another system goes through without producing much.  Baffling as to why the winds dropped overnight everything was going well when I went to bed winds increasing steadily then naf all until sunrise. Strange.

I was caught out twice in a grim massive hail storm in Huddersfield which came in two large waves, then went to Dewsbury on the train, and only 8 miles away, there was no sign of hail and it was bright and clear. I thought that was really weird. Such a significant weather change between two towns close to each other

Wouldn't be surprised to see something wintry early tomorrow morning as well.
