No blizzards here but it increased the depth to 8cm this morning.  Expected a bit more but guess the shower died soon after I went to bed.

8cm is still great though pit! Only 1-2cm here

I'd say yes for showers. Need a good breakdown now for decent snow imo.

Missed out on all the showers last night sadly but still got another covering. Quite typical of the event really, either you got right under the mini streamers or you got scattered showers, never really thickened out into a wider band for any length of time but sounds like it delivered for the east of our region at least!

Looking ahead it seems like warmer air (not too warm at the surface) will eventually win out after the weekend but then there's many options on the table heading into next weekend

Morning all. According to the radar a quite well organised band of showers will hit Wetherby area and possibly North of Leeds. We might miss it for a few miles here.

A very slow breakdown with slow moving fronts from South West..... Hopefully!

Quiet on here,  says it all really. A few showers hitting the coast but fizzling out inland.

Check out the GFS 06z folks.  The cold more than hangs on with a stronger Scandinavian HP next week.

Have a good day!

Next interest for me is to see how cold we get tonight. Be good to report back in the morning. TV saying it could be the coldest night in 10 years....

Wonder if we will see snow at the weekend. Id rather have a snowy breakdown and then cold fights back a few days later. Even if we do go mild I think there's still snow chances to come for us over the next few weeks even if deep cold doesn't come back.

Lovely sunny, but cold, day in Barnsley.

I don't mind it but I just wish there was more snow down first!

Snowy breakdown this weekend, slightly warmer, then bang for the reload with tons and tons of snow on a proper bitter easterly

we can all wish though

If 0 at 850hpa is cold I think we have massively downgraded are expectations over the course of years. Also if conditions are sunny without any fog or mist temps will possibly reach 12-13C here. It looks dry at least, without rain which is good news for all.

Temp has climbed above 0c again here, damn it. Really disappointed as a string of ice days would have been great to record. Doesn't look like I will now at all!

This is the parallel, very low chance of verification. Main run and all other models do not agree.

I thought the Para was better at dealing with fluctuations higher up in the atmosphere?

Looking like more surprises this weekend and end of next week. The Easterly of redemption?

Theoretically yes, but I don't see any support from the other models and ensembles. There is no way as it is now to maintain - 12 at 850hpa on 15th Feb. I can't remember when was the last time both UK and SE Europe had uppers of - 12 or lower simultaneously. If I remember well we need to go back to March 1987 or 1963 but I'm still not sure.
