If you want to read cloud height, take the surface pressure from the cloud top pressure (surface pressure e.g. 1010mb, cloud top pressure the pressure where the DP and Temp line diverge) and multiply the value by 30. So tops at 6330ft.

Do the same but surface pressure in mb from cloud base pressure. 1010-900 = 110*30 is 3300ft.

So, bases of 2-3000ft and tops of 6-7000ft roughly

Will fall to 800ft and increase to 8000ft in a heavy shower.

Over 20000ft in a proper convergence zone.

My maths is reasonable but it does suffer when I've been up since 5am. I'll get the hang of it eventually.

My usual equations feature rearranging ohms law for electronics and electrical circuit.

Thanks mate, i'll look at a few tomorrow to see if i can crack them.

Zzzz now, up again soon.

Well, ended the day with a 1 or 2cm dusting here, very disappointing considering what the models were predicting 24hrs ago.

Big respect to anyone that puts their neck on the line and makes a forecast though, as the UK weather has proven time and time again, it is simply unpredictable.

On to the next one!

Well looks like we had a few showers overnight, better covering in all surfaces, maybe a couple of cm but hard to tell from my bedroom window through blurry eyes. Certainly looks cold out! Hopefully it's cold enough today that it doesn't all melt! A couple more showers before the sun gets to work and we might end up ok. We will see.

Fresh covering of snow this morning after we managed to catch some showers overnight. More showers coming my way now so il wait before I go measure.

Here’s the 24 accumulation chart since 4am yesterday morning. Perhaps an amber warning would of been more suited for places further North? Looks like eastern parts of North York Moors have seen 10-15cm in this period.

Oh she’s coming down nicely this morning!

Starting to resemble outside what I would expect here from an easterly.

Kitten of the east leaves a dusting overnight.  Now depending on some bonus snow to get a descent covering.

A few showers overnight, and another putting a few flakes down now, but still only a very thin covering.

Heavy snow showers here now, more snow overnight building on yesterdays snow. I would guess 6cm +- but its hard to tell as the wind has blown it around, so its piled up in some places and almost nothing in others. Will try and get a picture when I go for my lunchtime walk

Overnight GFS Ens keeps the cold surface temps with us out until Monday, and then followed by a slow return to something slightly less cold but definitely still not mild.
