A couple of areas to look at on the satellite.  Here are screen grabs from 12.00 in 15 minute intervals until 13.45.

Areas of note:

1. Circled red is our Baltic streamer which seem much delayed and making very slow progress across the North Sea.  This looks to be merging with the snow circled blue, which is moving slowly SW.  This snow once converged could make landfall somewhere North Yorks/North East and enhance shower snowfall tonight.

2.  Area circled yellow is moving west and seems to be feeding the snow around The Wash/Norfolk/Lincolnshire and could enhance shower activity across Norfolk, Lincolnshire through this afternoon/evening.

What time are we looking at for things to start getting more interesting? Can't be long now?

Finally getting into some of the better convection here now. Interesting the heaviest part is graupel, then turning to flakes as the shower clears.

Last 12hours been pretty disappointing, idk how the Netweather.tv dare use the phrase "Beast from the East" on their front page, so far its been another disappointing episode.

Steady, moderate snow has brought a very thin covering to all surfaces.

Still keeping expectations very low for later.

Just now, caistor top said:

Both the bbc & met office have us down for heavy snow from 1800 till tomorrow afternoon, there was me thinking that was it

Providing things start to improve from now we could all be in for a good night. Just need this switch from light powdery stuff to big beefy 50p sized flakes, because atm its not doing it for me at all.

Radar looks like just north of Leeds getting into a proper heavy streamer, that’s more like it

Also a more consistent area developing into more central Leeds areas but still rubbish Barnsley way
