Absolute farce lol. I wasn't expecting 2010 but my cm has nearly gone. Only in this country with -11 uppers

Only got 24hrs or so for the chance of something decent imo.

I must admit I'm shocked how much it's melting. Sun doesn't even get above the houses opposite still and it's still early Feb but it's definitely going!

You'd think with -11 uppers and a stiff easterly we'd be fine. I was really excited that this is happening a lot earlier than the 2018 beast, but so far....

Let's see what the rest of the day and tonight brings. I'll not write it off yet

In general they are too showery and the wind is moving the showers on quite quickly so no real time for any accumulations of note. For my part of the world the BBC is still saying plenty of heavy showers, whereas the MetO are going for the occasional one with light now. So far the MetO have had it broadlly correct.

Not too bad here in Leeds 16. Not a lot but it's settling.

Did settle a bit on the grass and a few cold surfaces but not on the road or pavements. Just melted on impact.

This section is starting to sound a bit like SE and Model section with dummies being spit out.

The weather apps are ridiculously useless in these situations - you have the symbols switching every hour or so. I think I'd be more confident of snow if it was showing full sun

Big Shower arriving in the upper Calder Valley....

EDIT: Is there such a thing as a 'Snow Devil'? (like a 'dust devil but of snow?) as once just ripped through the Car Park out back!!!

I think the high res models just grossly exaggerated convection and particularly streamer potential. I thought GFS etc were underestimating but they may well be proven right in the end.

Looking at the radar we are in line for a few more showers. The last one seemed to intensify as it reached Leeds so hopefully that will continue to happen.

The radar gives better insight really. It's always interesting in passing to see how the forecast actually turns out....

I dont really expect very much, too showery and quite dry snow. It would need a really heavy sessions to get some accumulations, which is possible, but not county wide imo.

Don't write anything off yet until 12am tonight!! Trust me ✌

I think people need to give this a chance. As day progresses things will get better. Showers seem to be getting beefier as they approach over here.

There's a decent covering here to be fair. We've been a bit spoilt this year is the problem, then we've had all the build up, the fact we've tapped into some genuine cold air (not marginal) for the first time and finally expectations increased with a seemingly unnecessary Amber warning!

We still have many hours ahead to deliver though and at least the thaw will stop going into the evening

Little Kittie from the east continues to purr.

Temperatures below zero here but as others have said it's melting. Need a good some good sharp air frosts to get the ground frozen up.

Just tries to work out why weve had melting.

I did look at 850s in high res and we have a fairly sizeable picket of -6--8 850s that moves away after 1pm to be replaced by more -10s. Ex0lains the larger flakes with the last shower as well

Looking at NetW radar this shower did seem to undergo some 'intensification' as it approached Leeds?

These slopes giving our showers a bit of a boost from here on in I wonder?

It's true, I find the GFS ppt forecasts to be remarkably accurate out to about 60 hrs

We need the showers to merge for a couple of hours to get anything substantial I think.

been a bust so far here I was expecting a lot more to form from the North sea but there’s still plenty of time.
