Not sure about today but I would say Doncaster is very well placed for tomorrow's streamer (assuming it materialises)

This streamer is showing right through South Yorkshire, North lincs, North Notts and through to Derbyshire....

I am praying this stays on target as 20 to 30 miles either side could get a lovely surprise... ( including me )

Good luck everyone..... things are about to start ramping

Met Office App now showing 60 consecutive hours of snow or snow showers from midnight tonight until midday Wednesday.  Please be right!

Just popped out to the coast to do a few things for work and that wind has some poke, must be gusting close to 30mph. Certainly feels chilly. one or two very light graupel showers, but not much else, and not much off-shore that I could see though it was tough to tell between eyefuls of sand.

As for prospects for the rest of the week, why not just let it play out and see what happens? It's not like we can influence it anyway.

Yeah, it's like Sahara-on-Sea. Well, except for the temperature and sunshine.

I suspect are radar will look like this in the coming hours once instability comes in and lower dam. Can see its filtering down to North East England and near Scarborough way.

Not sure where the disappointment is coming from?

Heavy snow hasnt ever been forecasy for today guys just light scattered showers

If anything the showers look more widespread than expected and beefier.

If your looking at 850s and thats it maybe thats whats causing confusion...

Its the heights at hpa that arent low enough.

Lower the dam larger the cloudtops bigger the showera etc

Look at the difference in the blue colours over the uk

We can see through today and tomorrow this gets darker which means more and more instability with less capping in the atmosphere

I hope this helps people understand the lack of heavy snowfall

Calm. We will get hit hard tomorrow. Atm more so southyorkshire but north and west will still have generous amounts

Look at the dark blue colours of the heights on the last chart.

So a combination of both low heights and low 850s create a snow machine over the north sea

Hi Scott. A few people I’ve spoken to are a bit downbeat over the snow chances for Leeds. It all looks a bit too south of here. What’s your punt at what sort of conditions we might see? Thanks

Yes I wasn't quite sure where the concern was coming from as it has only ever been tonight onwards when the real fun starts with anything before being a bonus?

Thoughts on thundersnow tomorrow Scott In view of your post?  I suspect those under the streamer and closest to the coast have the best chance?

Experienced it a couple of times before but would love to again (greedy I know!)

Think the further South in West Yorkshire you are the better. Huddersfield looks better than say Bradford etc. But there will be a lot of heavy snow showers even if people miss the streamer. Plus I can imagine smaller streamers will pop up anywhere last minute, as well as organised streams of showers. They do tend to shift up and down. Think Leeds will be fine.

I don't mind South Yorks getting a streamer, we probably did better up here with the frontal events in January/early Feb. I just don't want it to be close enough that we are in the dead zone either side. Hopefully they may wriggle up and down a bit to cover a wider area!
