Let’s hope we all get hammered tomorrow. Managed to book the day off work especially in the hope.

These new street lights are very annoying aren't they lol! I really miss that lovely orange glow we used to get when it snowed at night with the old lamps. That used to be a very unique atmosphere.

Let's hope we get plenty in the day time next week too ?️

Yes my children will never know the lovely orange glow from snow cover at night

Fingers crossed we all get to see lots of snow over the next week

Not to be taken at face value,  but a bit of a downgrade on Euro4 from last nights 0z to this mornings 6z for snow depths and a narrower band across Yorkshire from the streamer.  Let’s hope for upgrades in 12z.

a bit poor all this at the moment isnt it really. nothing i see to get overly excited about like 2010 13 n 18. must be uppers not quite cold enough for heavy shower development.

Possibly Stratocumulus, expect things to develop more widely later tonight and early hours of the morning, where the streamers set up should give some decent accumulations, bit of patience me thinks today.

I think mid to high level as it is clearly overlying the showers (tC would say as opposed to Cb) so not so sure. I agree though, they are a bit lumpy but are clearly by their orientation linked to the low rather than the N Sea streamers. Altocumulus perhaps? We have had low level  stratocumulus clouds all day here with no sun so structure of sky (other than bits of scud) impossible to discern.

Hope you're right about the streamers: my daughter has sledge fever!

We have these too, however, the next street over still has some (six) of the orange sodium lights and, during the very heavy snow with the big flakes last night, I could see that effect from 100m or so away. Brought back fond memories.... Might need to move streets!

I have a few saved low pressure sodium streetlight heads and a sleeve for a column. Been tempted to find a used column from the web and mount my own in the back garden.

I'm sure the neighbours won't mind too much...XD!

The real cold uppers and true easterly hasn't arrived yet.

Météociel propose le modèle GFS à maille moyenne (0.25 degrés) jusqu'à 240h. Cartes de prévision des précipitations, des orages...

It does looks a fraction lower for depths in south of region, but if you look closer evidence for streams of showers and even those arounds Leeds, who looked to miss out more. Looks good from harrogate all the way southwards! Still think a lot more will fall. They are always under done right up to the event.

Looks like high level (cirrus?) cloud from the depression to the SE is inhibiting showers for our region at the moment. Hopefully this will pull away E or SE over the next few hours. You can see the streamers underneath, such as the small one coming in near Flamborough.

Excellent spot ❄️❄️❄️

Met Office forecast now shows heavy snow here tomorrow.

In fact, it shows snow continuously from 2am Monday to 3am Tuesday.

Tbh I gave up on this Easterly. Not a big fan tracking showers, I prefer organised systems even marginal ones over here. I hope though the places without any snow this winter will get a decent covering the next few days.

Future dates of interest for me are the inevitable Atlantic system pushing through next week which might bring a very good snow event and a proper - 14 to - 16 Easterly in FI which can trigger more energy in the North Sea.

I'd be more than happy with these sort of totals after what we've had so far this year (ie - slush).

Just so you all know 2010 streamer wasn't picked up on until 6 hours away and wasn't on the models so just keep that in mind

More requirements for the estate agent.. must be at 200m+, must have orange Street lamp outside.

i'll be up all night long watching both the Superbowl tonight and the lamp post in equal measure.

Hoping for a snowfest and a pointsfest at the same time.

a good night for no sleep i reckon.
