If the low keeps diving more south am I right in thinking this will draw more cold inland and shower activity from The east surely a good thing for Yorkshire ?

Really doesn’t like it was much based on that low res radar but does it?!

I'm in Bridlington and never ending rain here this winter so far.

Just a little hail and ice pellets and perhaps a little sleet in recent weeks.

It started 30 Nov 2010 around 1730 in Doncaster and lasted until 0830 on the 1 December. By then I had 35 cm on my drive, the highest total for the Doncaster area using my stats from 1997 and RAF Finningley 1942-1995. I asked all on Net Wx to send in snow data to try and get an idea of where had the most snow, the picc below is the chart I ended up with. I have 16 pages on this, charts, photos, video etc, and used it to give a talk to R Met Soc at Leeds.

If anyone would like the full 16 pages I can try and send it via pm?

Id love to see this John. With experiencing this in Sprotbrough it was just something else!

Would be good to actually see some falling snow here and even a slight covering would be a change from the rain and showers of most weeks this winter !

GEM is very similar to GFS re streamers, and in fact keeps our region in snow out to 14th Feb!

I remember that day really well as all the buses in Leeds were cancelled. About 16cm fell, on top of what fell on the 27th-30th of November, resulting in close to a foot of level snow.

Got stuck under a streamer measured over 2ft in the back garden in 2010 when we got stuck under a constant streamer  that was unreal just how heavy it was my car was buried for over a week as it was that cold it didn't go anywhere.

Absolutely, my nieces and nephew have not seen proper snow before, would be a great distraction from the current situation to see people enjoying the snow, socially distanced of course

I think there will be some snow grains at least falling on the east coast here at some point but it would be lovely to see a proper fall.

I do believe some areas inland could get 2 to 4 inches and maybe 6 from this set up.

Mate I truly hope so. It seems that here on the North Notts / South Yorkshire Border we are in no mans land. I recall 2010 though very well as I was working nights and it just absolutely hammered us here.

I'm hoping for the same streamer potential.

I hope Kasim doesn’t mind, but below is a copy of his post from MOD thread.

The GFS 18Z is good for a few reasons

> Improved cold air in the SE > better snow ratios (1:10 at 0C but 1:15 at -1C). Wind speeds @ 15-20mph lead to high snow drift index (research topic), especially inland at altitude where theoretically 2-3ft drifts would ensue a la Chilterns, Cambridgeshire on 18z say late Sunday

> Lower height core over North Sea is well defined (if anything more than 12z), leading to optimal streamer activity in the East, North East, convective parameters not quite as good as 2010 nor 2018. BUT to make up for it the loss in height volatility INCREASES longevity of streamers, producing 10-20cm widely so totals at close of play are not far off if not similar

Look at these charts from real weather!

Massive convergence zone over middle of the humber.
