Yeh maybe some wintry showers tomorrow afternoon and a chance of more general rain.sleet and snow Sunday afternoon and evening. Tuesdays show is delayed into the evening and now is a full slider. After that the mild air slams through during Wednesday then mild and wet. However he lows just need to shift a bit further south and it's business time. GFS has taken early spring off the agenda tonight. Although it's all lala land that bit so subject to big changes.

Tonight into tomorrow morning has all the hall marks of the 'Aire gap' coming into play. Winds perfectly aligned to bring showers through settle > skipton> ilkley> Otley. Might get a nice little covering!

Other area of interest looks like areas just east of manchester (cheshire gap). Peak district > sheffield >   maybe rotherham to name a few places. Think showers should be more organised here in general.

At the moment can't see any snow sunday, looks far too south of us, although southern parts of south yorkshire match just catch something.

This is spot on with automated metoffice for Barnsley! Showing snow showers for all tomorrow morning

Yeah, looks like heavier showers are starting to cue up out in the irish sea.

Temperature 0.1c here, expecting all snow if it doesn't rise as the showers approach. Dew point -1c should help though.

Uppers are too mild, -5 850's have never cut it in a nw'ly.

After around 6 am we bring in some colder uppers of -7. That can provide temporary accumulations of snow to high ground.

Lots of Snow falling being reported across Midlands.

Looks to be an organised band just to East of Birmingham.

Won't be coming this way though as we're looking out to  West for showers coming in off Irish sea.

Any potential showers for your location won’t be until later tonight/tomorrow morning but yes

Not looking like there's much chance of anything here this weekend, everything to the southwest/south. Tuesday still could deliver though and to be fair it's been a decent few weeks for snow IMBY since Christmas so I suppose it's only fair for others to share the fun! Look forward to hearing the comedy accumulation estimates from the SE thread again!

Well this wasn't expected! Its moving west to east due to the convergence winds keeping it going.

Kasim posted in his forum last night that he is expecting a trough to move in from the Irish Sea into the South West of our region.  This can now been seen on the Radar.

How far East the snow gets is the question.  Will it actually get over the Pennines or just evaporate once it hits the highest ground.

I saw some short term models on the model thread last night which took an area of snow right across our region (South / West Yorkshire) around lunchtime today which made it across to East Anglia so who knows.  Fingers crossed for a dusting!

If those south west winds keep blowing it will keep the energy going with convergence winds. Been watching it move all morning and the energy seems to be sliding more west to east

Just so you all can see what I'm seeing

Screenshot_20210123-090458_Chrome.thumb.jpg.f7fd3e4f65cce1b2b267bb7fdbef7c0f.jpgScreenshot_20210123-090521_Chrome.thumb.jpg.fcdbc439e55df87bd8c5a5633ac10bd7.jpg

If you flick between the two its moving slightly north east when the energy core moves

Plenty close on the radar for South Yorkshire, also looks like the shower activity behind the first area of precipitation is intensifying. Just got to see if it makes it over the higher ground. Good day for radar watching.

Yeah looks like quite a patch of Yorkshire may get a surprise or too in 30-40 minutes time. Fingers crossed  Watched the band become increasingly more organise all morning.

Heavy fast snow here. Does look like the Aire gap is doing what it does.
