Is this marginal? The system has stalled slightly, looking at the radar is it right to think the stuff north still needs to drift its way south. Crazy day, love a good surprise snowfall. I know times are hard but enjoy this if you can.

Generally yes. Precipitation is trying to move south along the band however the easterlies are forcing uplift so our heavy line for now looks static when it's not, it's just being replaced continuously.

140m we have 15cm at least.

Hiw is thus not an amber! Or even red. Cars stuck everywhere.

Here in Mansfield - never know if we are South Yorks or Midlands for weather, I always think SY is more appropriate - have say our current 2cms to 4cms lying snow was a surprise if you only looked at the Met Office/Beeb forecast etc. Last night on local news the BBC weather presenter said "I would be surprised if we get snow"!!!!!! Or words to that effect.

I have to say Kasim called this far earlier than anyone else for my location and his 'forecast' last night was very reasoned with lots of detail as to why he was saying it would be a much bigger event than was being forecast by the vast majority.

Problems on side roads now with cars stuck - I have just been to our local hospital and they are having to throw a lot of grit around the site to keep it moving.  Staff are complaining that they were not forewarned!

More moderate snow again now. About 7cm and decent flakes falling ❄️ Lovely stuff!  I thought the prediction of 12pm starter for this event was a bit askew

Kasim, when do you think it will stop in the Mansfield area - it looks on the raintoday radar as never ending for this afternoon and not petering out soon as most forecasts suggested earlier.

About 15 cm of snow here at work. Only just made it in this morning. I live 6 miles away, so may well have to walk home as roads are all gridlocked and its still throwing it down..

many of the best snow events in hull and east yorkshire were provided by a bitter north wind bring heavy and frequent snow showers down the east coast.that type of weather never seems to happen nowadays.mores the pity.
