Presumably for the central spine of Yorkshire precipitation is being enhanced by the easterly wind vector interacting with the high ground. When you look at some of the high res models they show fingers of precipitation clinging to the eastern Pennines and foothills late into the day .

York is just too sheltered in the Vale of York and hardly ever gets heavy precipitation, annual rainfall just 600mm.

Yes this is very correct!

I live at 15 metres above sea level not far from Leeds, on Saturday the 2nd January we got a good dumping of snow, would be interested to know what people were predicting then for lower levels and what the temp, dew point, wet bulb etc was.

And the conditions were right for that. Totally different situation this.

Got more snow today than the other Saturday already

Tbh radar looks like it's fading and weakening

Have you not fared too well from this mate?

You are about 1 mile away from where its stalled and it does appear to be backing a tiny bit west.

Ive been lucky to stay in the intensive precipitation for a long time but it definitely appears to be strengthening

Ahhh, we are literally just outside the heavier precip by a few miles, so close yet so far away.

Is it expected to pivot & shift back west at all?

I would say the opposite, the radar is getting more green all the time in the middle, seems to be getting steadier?

Lovely view from my doorbell. Pain driving as few roads are gritted.

Metoffice have it in their description haha. Looks like surprises all week if this carries on

There is no warnings on the site? Although, they usually are late with them

However, current forecasted temperatures are around 6c for Monday so still not sure it's true? Maybe it's for a lot further North than us?

Were forecast snow till around 6pm but some areas will be in heavier precipitation and others not. Cant believe you didnt get hit ive got cars stuck in the snow in my street

This thin band is intensifying in situ and your literally a few mile outside it youve been unlucky ive been in it 2 hours as it stalled

Its a none event for you mate im sorry.

Your too far north for the heavier precipitation.

Without 2mm per hour eveporative cooling cant start and thats been your issue its bad luck. The met mentioned some areas seeing nothing and its for area like yours and hull thats missed the heavy precipitation

Roll on summer then . Just looks like it’ll be the same old story for York and East Yorkshire.

Enjoy it those who have been lucky

I never look at the radar when it's snowing, it avoids the disappointment of knowing when it's gonna stop
