just done an old fashioned "stick your head outside" forecast.

It's heavy ice pellets outside at the moment. I can see it getting dicey on the roads pretty quickly

Yes - ice pellets is a good sign going in this direction (towards cold), suggests the inversion is vertically staggered & weak.

Cant understand why the snow isn't even wet now here. Its not event fat flakes under this heavy ppn and only at 66m asl

Icy mix now of sleet/pellets, surprised given altitude n east coast proximity, those further west will do well.

Snow in Barnsley at 100m asl.  Cars and grass whiteover and slush starting to build on drives and roads.

Radar looking excellent for next couple of hours.  Heaviest heading my way right now!

Yeah i reckon around 8am! I guess well see come the end it may all die out but going off whats forecast to come the met could very well have egg on their faces
