Left the ice pellets behind in Garforth to head to work at Cleckheaton. Rain all the way, including bear Birstall IKEA at approx. 200m asl so currently it's longitude rather than altitude that's the defining factor! 1°c here currently (Cleckheaton).

Indeed, as several other poster from this area have stated, we now have freezing rain in this part of Leeds.

Bits of sleet mixed in on my windscreen in Cleckheaton. (not many but more than 5 mins ago!)

The radar is starting to explode into life now with the heavier echos becoming larger.

You want to be in these echis as long as possible to bring the snow line down but this wont be fully possible until the 0c850 moves back over us later in the morning

Just woken up and it’s white over outside.
A very slight covering of wet snow, bodes well for the rest of ya as I’m only 53m asl.

The 0c 850 is moving north to south looking at your location it is now over you. If its settling this quick without a lot of evaporative cooling id suggest were all going to do rather good here as this heads south through the morning

Proves a wet ground isn't an issue. Esp with wind can even add to surface evaporative cooling.

People mistake wet ground for being an issue when light precip & high temperature parameters are more likely to be the issue.

Nothing here, wet ground and a lot of fog.

Temperature plumeting inlast half hour from 1c to now 0.5c. I'm feeling optimistic about later this morning!

The latest Euro4 now has accumaltions to sea level.

The situation continues to upgrade

I'm going to add 1cm onto what I said last night

Patchy dusting to 3cm to coast

3-7cm for 60% of an area inland above 100ft for Yorkshire

4-12cm widely at 100-200m

Over 10cm widely & 30cm locally above 200m

> N/E Mids into EA later on 60% coverage of 1-4cm locally 5cm on hills

It's looking good isn't it, can't believe how quickly temperature is dropping now. Now 0.4 at 300ft.

Looks like the precipitation is due to be much heavier than initially forecast, that could have a big impact on how low snow line gets to and total accumulations

I didn't know you can listen to cheese to predict snow that's a new one.
