Some lovely pictures on this thread. I'm green with envy. Still snow free here in East Lincolnshire, other than one flurry at Christmas and a dusting weds into Thurs.

However, I'm optimistic for the next few weeks. So much so that made decision to replace my long dead cheapo Maplin weather station. Looked at some advice on here and got a reasonably priced one from weather spares. For what it cost is great. So thanks to those who posted advice.

Only been running since Weds but although this spell has been poor snow wise has been cold (certainly since local records resumed). Average temperature of 0.5 °C and average dewpoint of 0.5°C.

Technical bit now. The coldest day (yesterday when never above 1°C) has been the meltiest day (this is why I never post in mod thread). Very high humidity key.

Heres hoping to see some of that snow, post some of my own pictures and produce some interesting graphs over the next few weeks.

Missed a photographic opportunity this morning. Round fox house everything covered in white ice trees grass looked fantastic in the sun. Not hoar frost ice. Guess they had freezing drizzle up there yesterday from fog.

I think this sums up yesterday's event for me On the plus side I detoured on my way home from work and went up through Bradford and round the outer ring road north of Leeds, incredible scenes up to about 5 miles from home, just a dusting here. Hope there's a more widespread dumping to be had in the coming weeks! Screenshot_20210109-101219_Gallery.thumb.jpg.c127e1c5638327af41d12abeac2c0882.jpg

This makes it the 3rd covering of snow this winter. Beautiful scenery.

Cloudy, milder and windy for Monday, with persistent rain across the Pennines, and patchy rain elsewhere. Tuesday probably dry and colder again. Rain and possible hill snow for Wednesday.

Some great photos again @congerball.  Lovely to see some snow of a decent depth.  Hopefully we’ll all see something similar before this winter is over!

Around 50cm has fallen across the highest parts of the North York Moors yesterday.

Went for a walk this morning at Newgate Bank. Around 30cm of fresh powdery snow underfoot and quite difficult to walk through.

That satellite image really shows how localised yesterday’s event was. I have friends in Roundhay and even there they only had about 2cm of wet snow - it’s not until you get north of the ring road that the more impressive snow amounts start to appear. Definitely a total bust for 90% of Leeds unfortunately.

Well that has to one of the most overhyped cold spells in many a year bara couple of dustings it has been let down after let down.

This "cold" spell has been exceptional for those in the North of the county with elevation. Some places have seen snow falling everyday so far in 2021 bar today with temps dropping as low at -12c on a couple of occasions. Some places have also seen up to a foot of snow and one of the highest single daily total snowfall in many years.

For those with a low elevation its been quite frustrating with the snowline being above my head on many occasions.

If you live in Harrogate then its a cold spell to remember. If you live in Hull you haven't seen snow for 3 years....
